I think he's pretty lucky it wasn't the "toodles" Grandma,I don't care who you think you are, A woman alone in a rural area with some stranger on her front lawn he might of been assessing the area to commit a crime for all she knew,I'm not sure how close she got to him before she told him to leave i'm hoping it was far enough she could of had time to defend herself if it was a BG.As far as people in other countries judging what happens here, are totally clueless and think that a call to 911 will allow a LEO to teleport outta the phone receiver or sumpin like that
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

LOL, I can guarantee you can't 'casually' walk onto the ranch, especially when family is there. Remote sensors monitor the perimeter and you wouldn't make it in very far even if you tried.

When the family is at the Western White House (as he was this weekend,) they block the road leading to the main road onto the property. It is blocked off on the southwest and southeast ends where the road intersects the the other arteries. Only residents that live on the road (and maybe some family members) as well as press get past that checkpoint.

When he is not there you can drive along the road that passes the property, but not down the main road in, as that is where the security gate is. There are also signs stating no stopping on the road when you are on the outside perimeter of the ranch.

Secret Service Headquarters is located catty-cornered from the entrance to the main road into the property, and only down the road from the old schoolhouse about 1/8 of a mile.

I am sure if there had been too big an issue, the USSS folks would have been very quickly. There may have actually been one in the the schoolhouse with them, or at least someone from the White House Press Corp.

I had to laugh at the Euros who opined that the homeowner was acting "just like Bush" with a "shoot first" mentality.

They have it exactly backwards. It was the journalist who was behaving like the Bush foreign policy: going onto someone else's land as if he had every right to be there.

No shots fired. No pistol displayed. No threats issued. The journo didn't even know there was a gun until his colleagues told him about it.

Good job, Granny.

Some of the worst and most uninformed were from various "subjects" in Europe.

Yup!

They make OUR "liberals" look tame by comparison.

I had to stop reading about 5 minutes into all. Just couldn't stand it. :confused5

I was amazed to discover the level of ignorance with the general public concerning idea's like: It's O.K. to shoot someone (in Texas) simply because they are on your property. Also, many folks wrongly assumed that we must have permits and/or licenses to own/possess a gun on our own property.
We must do a better job at educating our non gun owning friends.

Texas and Americans took a beating (wrongfully) because the majority of the respondents were woefully misinformed.

Pretty scary!

Just a little perspective though I haoppen to have caught that on the news because CNN is the only English speaking news I can get while I´m here. But this is CNN an I´m very surprised at the reaction I read hee. some seem surprised that the viewers and CNN would take such a spin. This is the way they and their viewers have seen the world for years. Their Eurocentric perspective shouldn´t surprise anyone.

I do wonder about the poor judgement the lady displayed in bringing out her gun for a simple tresspass. As far as I´m concerened she should be charged. You just don´t go hauling your gun around and pointing it at people. There is a time for gun play.. ans a time for calling the police. There was no good reason for pullinig out a gun. As far as he feeiling threatened .. it is pretty clear they were reporters doing a simple tresspass.

Charged with what? You can walk around on your own property all day long with a gun in your hand and be well within your rights and well within the law.

Where in the story did it say the lady pointed her gun at anyone? She just had it in her hand and very few people even saw it.

Agree w/ the above. There was never anything said about her pointing it at him. Not even the Euros said that.
She was well w/in her rights.

I thought I heard CNN say she pointed it the danish reporter. Thinking back I believe I could easily be mistaken. If she didn't actually point it at someone, she was carrying in such a manor to cause alarm.. She and her property wasn't threatened, by brandishing her gun she was giving escalation an opportunity. I would hope that most of us CHL holders don't go flashing our guns just because someone steps into our yard. It seems like an over reaction to me.

It's likely they did say that -- it's CNN. Them saying it doesn't make it true, and it doesn't seem to be supported by the photos and and witness accounts.

If she didn't actually point it at someone, she was carrying in such a manor to cause alarm...
Apparently not, since the only person she would be "alarming" was the reporter, and he never saw the gun. Only because of news crews with telephoto lenses, did he even know the gun existed.
