Decisions...Decisions

I have the green light from my old lady to purchase a new weapon to go along with my new CHL. My boss recently purchased a Colt 1991a1 compact and has offered it to me for what he paid for it. It is in great shape with only about 200 rounds through it. However, I have been eying a brand new glock 30. Any reason to go one way or another (price is the same for both give or take a few bucks)? I am still new to the handgun scene, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

A G30 is a very accurate, reliable gun for carry. The compact 1911s work well for some, less well for others. One thing that can be said for the G30 is that you won't have to send it back to the factory or have it whittled on by a gunsmith to get it to work right. And you can carry a spare 13-round mag if you like, which gives the G30 a lot of firepower.

Although I love the 1911, if you prefer the Glock, get it.

Why would he offer to sell you a "previously owned" pistol for the same price you could pay for a brand new one?

I'm glad I don't work for your boss. I try to make mine happy, though.

if at all possible, SHOOT some before you buy, even if you have to borrow. They make them in different shapes and sizes for a reason. Stay with a well respected name and find something you like that fits you, not what someone else tells you is the best.

I have shot both, and they both feel really good. I just thought that I would ask around here for some opinions. If you can find an almost brand new 1991 for 400, please let me know where!

I like Springfield XDs. I like Glock's too... but not as much as an XD.
