Properly notified?

#1

Post by Dalstar »

A privately owned campground on a popular river lists as one of their rules "no... or concealed weapons allowed" on their handout provided when checking in. There is no other sign (30.06, gun buster, etc) on the property. Does the mere fact of them listing the rule serve as proper notification that would prevent the legal carry?

No. Written notice must comply with 30.06 to be effective notice.

It doesn't prevent you from carrying - what does do is say you are not welcome.

A side question is: is there any river property that is controlled by the COE? The people who run concessions (marinas, etc.) on Texas lakes are all COE franchisees. It would be interesting to determine who actually controls this particular piece of land.

If they find out they may ask you to leave. If you don't leave then you're trespassing and then you have a problem.

Aaaaand, if you keep it properly concealed, they won't find out.
