What happens if you go to the doctor or to try on a suit

I have yet to receive my license yet but I think of what I would do if I were carrying in some situations I have been put into within the past week. Say I am carrying and I go to the doctor for a check up and there are no signs posted at all. The Doc has to give you a shot in your butt or needs to listen to you breathe (both happened this week ) or if you go to try on a tux and the guy measuring you wants you to remove your shirt to try this and that. How do you handle such situations? Do you just have to be proactive and leave it in the car when you might have to lift up your shirt? Or am I missing something? Thanks and hopefully Ill have the plastic in my hand tomorrow along with an answer

I am currently debating whether my next handgun purchase should be a pocket pistol or a full-size 1911. I'm leaning more each day toward the pocket pistol.

This is my account of my Dr patting me on my extra mag & thinking it was a gun. There are 3 pages following of other board members experiences & ways to carry at the Dr. Office & other places you have mentioned. BTW That Dr & his wife went to the range w/ me last week & they both want to go back.
After you read that, if you will do a search & just use the word "Busted" you will find many more excellent suggestions.

Concerning trying on clothes: If all you are buying is a dress coat or jacket, go ahead & take a pair of pants to the dressing room too. You dont have to put them on. I suggest always trying on EVERY PAIR OF PANTS YOU BUY w/ your carry rig ON. Some dont but some wish they had afterwards. My wife or Mom (or both) always go w/ me to look at fit.

For the Tux, or getting fitted for a suit. Wear jeans to the wedding
Now to be serious. I have pastored a church for 34 yrs now & been asked several times to wear a Tux at their expence. I have just said no.

Now to you. Pocket carry is about the best in that situation, I think. If your wife has a CHL you can also let her carry a large purse w/ 2 in it.
Fanny pacs may look odd to some but are an option.

Bottom line on this is you are thinking ahead & that will translate into awareness on the street. GOOD JOB.

Hard to say in some situations...

This last Christmas shopping season, I had this girl who was enthusiastically trying to sell me these herbal (microwavable) heat wraps for aches and pains (you know the ones I'm talking about)...

Well I was carrying as usual, in the usual manner, and she went for the sale, in the power of the demonstration...

And before I knew it she had the waist wrap version of the product slung around me and was bringing it up around the girth area...

Well she knocked into the Glock and went pale when she figured out what it was...

I told her it was ok, and that he did nothing wrong...She is new to the country as she had recently immigrated from Russia (legally) and was surprised to see someone not in uniform carrying a firearm "legally"...

I didn't spend a lot of time trying to convert her or explain anything...I did buy (and had the intention all a long to do so) a set of those heating pads for "Wife Unit", and gave the girl "El Gato's" business card with the URL for this website to give her something to read up on...

I felt this was proper to do, and hope she gets as much information as possible from us...She seemed very computer savvy and interested in

This whole incident kinda covered the whole spectrum of a senario which was introduced in the beginning...

I go to the Men's Warehouse (and other clothiers) a lot, and there are times when "fittings" are needed, I tend to either leave it locked up in the vehicle, or have "Wife Unit" take the responsibility at that time...If she's there...

So all I can say is do a little thinking about it before you head off to one of these places...And unless the folks doing all the measuring and other work associated with getting you all hooked up are hip to the idea of normal people carrying firearms...I'd probably just not have it become and issue...

The last time I bought suits I approached the manager and discretely explained that I am licensed to carry, and I often carry, so I brought a handgun to try on the suits. I asked him to assign me a sales person who would be professional about it.

He took care of me himself.

BYW not near as much wonder or doubt, but in the same manner.
I needed an allen wrench one time for a grip screw & did not know the size. When I told the local hardware store owner I had a CHL what I needed & would need to have the gun to find the right size wrench could I bring it in & how did he want it.

Looked at me, my vest, said hand it to me & we will take care of it.
He looked, & first guess fit. I reholstered & bought the wrench.
Deep East Texas is a great place to live.

I went to the mens wharehouse for a sportcoat. The lady had measured before I had a chance to consider anything else but she totaly missed my ultra carry in a IWB holster. She got a good fit. I bought and have worn it a few times.

I did pretty much the same, I didn't talk to the manager, but the salesman did, and I was invited to carry openly.
