Greetings everyone. I'm new to the forum and overwhelmed at the amount of information available. I would appreciate some tips to where to "go" first.

My status;

I have applied on line, taken a class at the Arms Room in League City with Brian Mobley and Tom Estep (they did a wondurful job), submitted all the paperwork to the state, I've been fingerprinted and I'm waiting.

I need holster help, I plan on carrying my Glock 23.....and I could use some concealment ideas as well (I'm a big ol boy)!

Welcome to the forum Wodathunkit. You've come to the right place. I suggest that you go to the forum rules first and then explore the different sections of the forum on the Board Index.

Read through some old threads, search for g23, g23 holster, 23 holster, or any such terms, and you should find a ton of info.

Jump into discussion. People here are generally easier going and less likely to pounce on a new member for asking questions or not searching, so don't be afraid to start a thread too.

As mentioned above, we're pretty laid back here, and don't mind answering questions at all...in fact, I'd say we cater to newbies. Many instructors (myself included) recommend this forum to our students, for this reason, and of course Tom and Brian do as well (great guys, great instructors).

As far as "how to conceal" and such, in addition to the various holster and gun-specific topics that crop up all the time (G23 is pretty popular, BTW), we've got a thread on "Pictures of your daily carry" that is darn useful...it's pretty big, lots of pictures, ideas, and methods.

You'll do well in your endeavors, and you're off to a really good start.

I'll add my 'Welcome' to those already offered. I also took my CHL class at the Arms Room with Brian. I can't say that it was the best day that I've ever had (I'm married and have a kid), but it was a pretty good one! I carry a glock 17 most days using a DeSantis Tuck This IWB and a Cabella's Double Duty belt. Get a dedicated gun belt first, then work the holster around it. Even the better quality regular belts won't hold up for very long. Here's a list of belt makers that I routinely look over.

The main thing is, buy quality stuff.

Be prepared to spend a few bucks to get a good holster, belt, mag carrier, etc... TexasCajun, gave you a good list to start with and I will add you can always try lightning arms sport, just do a search for them. They usually have some stuff from some of the better makers in stock and ready to go.

I forgot to include a disclaimer on the belt list that I provided. I copied this list from either another thread on this forum or on another forum that I frequent, so you may have to fuss with the links a little to get them to go to exactly where they're supposed to.

Welcome to the forum. The "search" feature in the upper right hand corner can be a big help. I still use it a few times a week.

There are many, but I'll get you started on a couple of acronyms just in case you don't already know them.

IWB = Inside the Waist Band
OWB = Outside the Waist Band

It's where you carry the gun, if on your belt at all, and which type of holster required to carry that way.

Welcome to the forum.

As many have stated, there is a wealth of info on this forum and many here that can and will help you.

I am not going to recommend a holster as that is something that only you can decide. What works best for me may not work well for you. Thats why a few of us have dead holster drawers.

What I will recommend is that you use the time waiting on the plastic wisely. Carry concealed around the house at every opportunity and as much as possible. This will get you more comfotable in your method of carry as well as letting you know what works best for you in each situation. When I was waiting for my plastic, I would arm myself as soon as I got home and showered. Unless we were going out somewhere, I would stay armed until I got ready for bed. When the plastic finally arrived, it was not a big transition from home carry to always carry.

Be safe and pray that you never have to use it.

Pulled the trigger on a holster purchase. I went with the Crossbreed Super Tucks Deluxe after much research and high recommendations on the site, hope I'm not disappointed.
