Waiting for wife to out me

Back in Oklahoma I almost always carried in a fanny pack. When relicensing here in TX, I wanted to go IWB. They boys were with me when I purchased my first two holsters. They knew that mom encouraged me to get the license so I wasn’t asking them to keep a secret. I asked them to not tell her about the holsters and to not tell her or ask me about it if I was carrying. I figured if anyone would see it on me, she would. No one else should know me better. The boys were good sports.

It took her 45 days. Even then she didn't see it. She dragged her hand across my waist as she went past me and jumped when she felt it. We talked and she could not believe that I had been wearing every day since I got my plastic. She was dumbfounded that I was able to carry to a wedding we attended when I had my shirt tucked in.

Anyway, it was a fun experiment. (And no, it was not lost on me that she may simply not look at me anymore. :waiting: )

Sounds like you've got a good handle on the concealed part.

Thanks. :-) I don't think I'm doing anything special. As others have said, I think that the general population just doesn't look for one there so they don't see one there. I now have a Galco Stow-n-go, DeSantis Intruder and a Comp-Tac Minotaur for my G26. It's not a huge gun, I got a good belt and they are pretty standard holsters. Lesson learned is the old standard, I just had to learn it myself. If I find the sweet spot for it to sit (around 3:30 for me) and then leave it alone, no one notices.
The Intruder and Minotaur are pretty awesome BTW.

I have a Minotaur for my G30. It is very comfortable. I have noticed one little problem in that it is starting to chew up the front site on my Glock. Not sure why this is. There is nothing to impede the front site when inserting the gun. Perhaps there is something further in that it is catching on. Sooner or later I will replace those sites, and I will order a CrossBreed for it instead.

My wife has gotten to the point where she will tell me she can't see anything before we leave for anywhere if I'm carrying or not because, even after almost 3 years of carrying, she knows I'm still conscience of printing. I do tell her when I am carrying so she knows what to do if anything happens. I've talked to her and our children (11 & 18 years old) about what to do if something were to happen. I recommend having that conversation with your wife at the very least. If she was unaware that you were carrying for 45 days, how would she know what to do if something went down? It is essential for no one to be between you and the BG, and you may not have time to move your loved ones out of the way while engaging a threat. We all hope that day never comes, but better to be prepared just in case. But it does sound like you've got the concealing down like a pro! :thumbs2:

:iagree:
Totally agree! Unfortunately, I can't carry on military installations because they are considered Federal property. Unless we're out enjoying some nice, cold, adult beverages, or unless I have to go on base, I'm carrying!

Awesome stuff, my gf acts pretty surprised every time she's on my right side leaning on me and finds I'm pocket carrying. My LCP never really shows and hides pretty well, very glad I got this for lazy carrying. I couldn't really EDC my SR9c, which I would really prefer over the LCP.

You can pretty well carry anything you are willing to dress around. I know many who EDC a full sized 1911.

Works even better if BOTH husband and wife are carrying and you've had the conversation about what to do. Thankfully, the situation didn't escalate to that point, but we thought it might yesterday in Sport Clips. A guy went OFF about his son's haircut and was out of control enough that we were ready if need be, and knew what the other was thinking/planning.

Sounds like you are a pro at consealed carry. That is a gift you know,I've seen people flaming or were easy to see they were carrying a weapon. Digression is the best for carrying as a matter of fact if a cop see's your carrying a weapon that isn't concealed he or she can recommend you CHL be suspended. Consealed carry means consealed

NO.......he/she cannot.
He/she CAN charge you with "Intentional Failure to Conceal".

I trust Ftak meant "discretion?" Changing the subject (digression) when questioned by a cop is never a good idea.

I too am "Waiting for wife " not to out me though.
30 years ago when my fiance and I were in College, and I was about to go to Law school, she said "I want to marry a rich lawyer or doctor" I said "ok, choose an old one, call me when he's deceased" She took me seriously, so I wait ...
