Well after 46 days my license came in the mail. Unfortunately I was on a trip and was not able to get it till Saturday. 1st actual carry was to the 4th of July Parade. Shorts and golf shirt with a Taurus PT911 in a Comp tac CTAC IWB holster at about 4:30. No one was ever the wiser. I was a little conscious of it when people got close to my back, but made it just fine.

Today is first day to wear it to work. In an office with just one part time person, so there is no one to really know if I have it on. It is a little bulky and I would like to find a better holster that covers more of the gun against my skin. I am also looking at a smaller gun. A small 9mm or 380, there are so many decisions, and I will only be able to afford one right now.

I am going to try to carry at all legal times from now on.

Take a good look at the Ruger LC9. It's a reasonably priced 9mm that comes in a small, thin package with decent sights. I think that in the long run you'd be happier choosing a 9mm over a .380, but that's just my opinion.

small 9mm

I have a Keltec PF9 I have never carried, a Taurus PT 709 I wear around the house, and still might get a Kahr PM9 because it's smaller. (I hated the Kahr CW40, but the PM9 might be nice)
My primary is either a Glock 26 or a XD45 (close to the same size of each other, but thick double stack capacity)
My current backup is a .32 Seecamp, a fine gun but ... a pocket 9 might be better for a BUG. (And I'm not willing to pay $1,000 for a Rohrbach and replace the springs every 3 weeks)

If you haven't already, consider wearing an undershirt tucked between your body and the holster/gun. It greatly improves comfort, particularly if you are prone to sweating as I am.

To the OP: I've become a recent devotee of Kahr pistols. They can be a bit spendy, but they just recently came out with a mini-9mm called the CM9 which is aimed at those seeking more affordability, and it ought to price out in the real world somewhere around $450 NIB. I have a PM9, a more expensive version of the same gun, and my wife has a CW9, which is basically the same gun as the CM9 but with a 1/2" longer slide and barrel, and one more round of magazine capacity. They weigh next to nothing, and they're only .91" in width. In fact, the CM9/PM9/MK9 pistols will fit into your front pocket in a pocket holster and conceal even better than the smallest lightweight J-Frame revolvers.

I have no complaints about my other carry pistols, and I particularly like my .45s, but I am very impressed so far with the Karhs. They shoot well. They control recoil well despite their small size. And, they are reasonably accurate. You mentioned that you were thinking of getting a smaller lighter pistol as an alternative to your Taurus, and the Kahrs would certainly provide that for you, and in a 9mm chambering to boot. Also, they are +P rated (per Kahr's website), so you don't have to download in order to accommodate the smaller gun. If you can find a gun small enough for your needs without having to drop down to .380, that would be the ticket. Try and find a shooting range that rents guns and see if they have one you can try out. If you were closer in to Grapevine, I'd let you try mine.

Like TAM, I also own a Kahr PM9 along with two larger Springfield beauties. I carried the Kahr, today, cause I was doing a lot of work on my vehicle in anticipation of a trip to the beach tomorrow. I washed the car, waxed and buffed it with a 10" buffer wheel, vacuumed, cleaned windows, wiped down surfaces and applied ArmorAll. I sweated like a pig, bent every which way, climbed on a ladder while standing with one foot in an open window to reach the top of my turtle-top van (quite the feat at 54 years old!). My point is, the Kahr was a perfect companion riding in my CrossBreed MiniTuck holster.

I generally carry an XDm 3.8" 9mm compact in a SuperTuck, but I thought the smaller size would benefit me today.

...and, no, not all of us TTU folk carry six shooters.

I also carry a Kahr 9mm about 90 percent of the time (MK9 Elite). They are a little bit on more expensive side, but I feel it's worth it.

I wear an undershirt for the same reason (and Military habits die-hard). But the down-side is that you need to make sure you clean your weapon as the lint from a t-shirt combined with sweat can form a nasty-paste in the trigger and the hammer-area on your pistol.

I've been look at the LC9 myself for pocket carry. Nice gun, fits my hand well and the trigger, while long, feels decently smooth. Good price point, too.
