You know, that's a pretty good idea and in plain, ordinary English, too! :thumbs2:

Simple plain English

No Carry Zones

1 - Premises of a School
2 - Premises of a Polling Place
3 - Premises of a court or any office used by the court
4 - Secure area of an airport
5 - Premises of a race track
6 - within 1,000 feet of the Premises of the location of a death chamber on the day of an execution
--->>>this rule currently applies only to the Walls Unit at 815 12th Street in Huntsville.
--->>>Thanks seamusTX for the address

7 - 51% rule, if it smells like a bar then its a bar
8 - Premises of a professional sporting event
9 - Premises of a interscholastic event
10 - Premises of a correctional facility
11 - Premises of a hospital
12 - in an amusement park (county more than 1 million people and park is more than 75 acres controlled entries and is open at least 121 days a year and has security guards on premises at all times)
13 - church or other place of worship

"Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The
term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk
or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor
was not given effective notice under Section 30.06
b4 = Hospital - they must post 30.06
b5 = amusement park - they must post 30.06
b6 = Churches and such - they must post 30.06
c =
A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally,
knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority
of Subchapter H. Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of,whether the handgun is concealed, at any meeting of a governmental entity.

City hall meeting must post 30.06
Just make sure the court does not have an office on the Premises as defined above

Hope this helps...

Thanks thorkyl! I've copied that into Word. I need to memorize that as I'll be taking a CHL course in the near future.

This thread reminds of a short time after I received my plastic. The wife and I were going to a hockey game and couldn't remember if professional sporting events were off limits. I remembered the school thing, but not the pros. Anyway, as we're walking up to the door I see the metal detectors. I guess I can't! So, instead of just going back to my car I decide to ask a cop about 20 feet from the door. I ask him, a Dallas PD Seargent, if CHL's are allowed to carry inside. This is only a little over 6 years ago. He asks me what a CHL is and I was stunned for a moment trying to decide if he's yanking my chain or not. I decide he's not and tell him that it is a license issued by the state that allows people to carry handguns concealed. His response . . . you're gonna love this . . ."Are you kidding me? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of."

I told another friend of mine, another DPD Seargent, that also has a CHL or maybe it was his wife, and he asked for the guys name. I wish I could have remembered it, I didn't even look. He said he would have loved to have known who that was so he could have educated him.

The point, sometimes we just forget where we can and can't, especially soon after getting the plastic.

After September first, this one will change:
7 - 51% rule, if it smells like a bar then its a bar

to

7 - 51% rule, if it is a 51% location AND has a proper 51% sign at each entrance to the premises.

As of Sept 1st, not having a sign posted at EACH entrance to the premises is a defense to prosecution.

Both hospitals and amusement parks must post 30.06

City hall can only post 30.06 while there is a meeting going on.

Thank you thorkyl,
This is an excellent digest & we who have been around a long time should have thought of this a long time ago.

I :tiphat: to you.

may or may not be the right place, but I noticed 2 new banks in town both posted, added to texas3006.com

Extrco
central Texas credit union

both of waco,

CTCU upset me as i was on a business call with my "new partner" who did not know I carried, he does now... seems to be ok, but that could have been a real problem.

Correct, but this is the law today, this is what we have to worry about today
On Sept. 1st I have to remake my card

Thanks for the concise list.

Is there a comfirmation on hospitals as a non-CHL zone without a 30.06?

Hospitals are just like any other private property, they must give effective notice under 30.06 to prohibit CHL. If you ask and they say no guns, you have been given notice, so keep your mouth shut and carry away. Concealed means concealed.
