Re: New gun for wifey- quality questions
If your wife can hold off her purchase decision until September, she (and you) can attend the TexasCHLForum day at PSC in Friendswood. She will have the opportunity to see and shoot lots of handguns.
Probably if she goes to the next monthly women's day there she will get a similar opportunity, but I can't promise anything on behalf of the organizers.
As for buying a specific weapon, PRODEFENSE in Webster should be able to order what you want.

Re: New gun for wifey- quality questions
Ok now I just feel silly. I totally forgot that we were planning on going in September, which ends up being great timing for us. A couple of the female shooters have contacted me as well to invite her to PSC. I'm thinking she'll probably go to that. With any luck Beretta will stop dragging their feet and start shipping (because now I want one), but trying a few different items out side by side might be better for her.seamusTX wrote:If your wife can hold off her purchase decision until September, she (and you) can attend the TexasCHLForum day at PSC in Friendswood. Guns are like shoes. It's great to get the opinions of others, but in the end it's just one of those things you have to pick and try on for yourself.

You owe me a new keyboard and a new cup of coffee. I wouldn't mind the closet full though. Probably cheaper than shoes.Wildscar wrote:And before you know it there will be a closet full of them.Venus Pax wrote:CompVest wrote:Truth is she should pick her own totally on what feels good to her. Re: New gun for wifey- quality questions
With Berretta its almost as bad as sitting in the waiting room. I ordered a rail for my CX4 when I bought it 3 months ago, and it still isnt here. That said, You cant go wrong with a company thats been in buisiness for something like 500 years, if I remember right. I had a 92fs that I gave to my niece when she returned from Iraq, and never had any problems. The CX4 is pure joy to shoot, and if they ever release the .45ACP PX4 and it uses the same magazines like the 9 and 40 do, Ill get me one. They look cool, but Ive never actually fired one.agbullet2k1 wrote:You think there's any chance it will be released by July? Her plastic won't be in until then at the earliest.Wildscar wrote:
FYI...if you are looking for the PX4SC(sub compact) then you will be waiting for a while longer. It has not been released yet.
Dont you hate it when she makes you go to the gun store?

Re: New gun for wifey- quality questions
I've been looking around online and have been seeing whispers and rumors from Lipsey's reps (supposedly) saying that they should be hitting cases in May or June. I guess if anyone, the distributer would know when it goes on sale. Until then though, I get to have my full size PX4 and have a little fun. I like the idea of interchangable mags, plus the guns being virtually identical in features will make it easier for her to learn.asleepatthereel wrote: With Berretta its almost as bad as sitting in the waiting room. The trick is making the gun thing appear in terms she likes. Now that I've told her she gets to buy me new clothes for concealing she's all excited. For some reason she thinks I have no fashion sense, so the chance to dress me up makes it all worthwhile to her.

Re: New gun for wifey- quality questions
My wife has both an XD40SC 3" and XD40 4". Both are absolutely reliable and she handles them without a problem. It was her decision based on many available pistol options at home. Reliability, the trigger and grip safety, and most importantly, the guns fit her small hands, which actually was the kingpin of factors. S&W, Ruger, Colt, and Glocks that she used did not fit her hand. All are certainly reliable. She qualified at the CHL shooting test with a 242/250, having never shot rotating targets......or having a timed shoot with her XD40 4". I have to agree with her, her XD does feel right. Personally, I'm a 45 guy, though I did like the XD40sc well enough to go get myself one for a conceal auto. Good Luck in letting your wife make her own decision :) .

Re: New gun for wifey- quality questions
PS...The break down is so easy on the XD that my wife cleans her own guns!! That has never happen with the S&W's or Colt's.
