Once, when cashing a check at the bank, I accidently handed them my CHL instead of my DL. They cashed the check and didn't mention it. I didn't realize I'd given my CHL until she handed it back.
Just don't have an 'old timers moment' and show them your carry weapon instead of your CHL!
Not sure that would be accepted as well.

I've only used mine for 2nd ID once, and it didn't go as well. Had expired DL, forgot to renew, so I didn't even have the paper one at that time and I was flying to Tennessee on business. She said she needed a current ID at the airport, so I gave her my CHL. She compared DL and CHL, and we were about to go on our merry little ways when another clerk looked over her shoulder. He then said very loudly, "Whoa! Do you have a gun?!" That went over like a thug in a punch bowl and people stepped a couple steps away from me like I just messed my pants! I said no, the original clerk appologized for the guy and told him that was not a question to ask anyone out loud and to never do that again! I got the feeling she either has a CHL or knows someone who does. Ended up OK, but it did get me alot of unwanted attention.
