Carrying Empty OWB Holster

#1

Post by chuck-texas »

Hello all,

I have an outside waistband (OWB) type holster that I keep attached to my jeans. When I go to work (which is at the university), I keep it on and leave my gun and magazines in the car.

I assume carrying an empty holster on me is not illegal or anything, right? It is too much work to take it off and wear it back everytime. But I wonder if it would be alarming or maybe even illegal somehow?

What do you think/know?

Thanks.

Empty holster is not illegal & cannot think of a way even liberal progressive LEO could try to make it that way.
Would it alarm someone if they saw it??? Some folks are scared of flies. Maybe.

Empty holster is not illegal though.

Not illegal. Longtooth beat me to it.

CT,

Trying to make a statement?

Have no interest in getting promoted?

Want to annoy someone at work?

Getting ready to quit?

C'mon, this enquiring mind is curious.

Given the general liberal climate of most university settings, I'm sure you know the weenie/liberal faction are going to be upset with you when you strut your stuff...

Thanks!

P.S. If you go through with your adventurous idea, please keep us up to date as to how it goes...

plus, anybody knowledgeable knows you've left a gun locked in your car.

That's where I was going to go with this. It's not illegal, but neither are a lot of things that aren't the best idea. Walking around with an empty holster if it isn't a demonstration tells everyone that there is a pretty good chance there's a gun in your car.

BTW, outside the waistband holsters are usually abbreviated OWB, while inside ones are usually IWB.

EDIT: spell check changed whatever I typed to "change" and I meant "chance."

I actually had no issues (nor do I have any of those mentioned intentions lol). It's been 1 week so it's hard to tell. But I think I'll just stop it. :)
