Quick question on residency requirements for becoming a CHL Instructor... Do you have to establish residency in TX prior to, or could you become an instructor and establish residency at a later date. Understand that you can only instruct in TX for it to be valid.

I don't see a residency requirement in GC §411.190 but DPS has been known to make up their own rules. Bonne chance!

Not even a real residency requirement to obtain CHL.

There were several out-of-state students in my CHL instructor class. One guy from Virginia and a couple from Arizona there may have been more these fellows were active participants in the class and let us know they lived out-of-state. The guy from VA was a know-it-all.
