for example, if i am at Walmart, and some random or presumeably random shopper asks me, "hey are you strapped" is it ok to say yes ? i have been sweating this possibility.

No. Don't do it. They have no right to know and you have no duty to tell anyone except a LEO. I probably wouldn't even admit to my own sister that I was carrying out in public. She knows, but can't tell and sometimes asks when I'm over at her house. I just give her a funny look and then ask her where she thinks it is. She hasn't gotten it right yet and it's usually in the same place every time.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I would ignore them
If they couldnt take a hint, I would play dumb and say "huh?" " sorry not sure what you mean"
If they point at the bulge in your shirt / on your hip, you say "oh that, its my insulin pump" or "its my phone"

They have no justification for asking you to show,
You do not have to show, EVEN to Walmart security - tell them to call the cops if they want to search you.

As you are new here, and i may assume new to carrying (or still waiting), the issue doesn't come up (or hasnt for me in my 2+ years carrying, even in simple t-shirts)
I know its "exciting" to know "I have a secret and you don't know what it...na na na na" but that feeling needs to go away and hopefully will shortly after carrying and really understanding the responsibility you have, if not for your security then legally.

my dad strapped me once when talking bak to him, I couldn't sit down for ...

oh ... nevermind

No I wouldn't go discussing anything I am supposed to keep concealed with strangers...

I can't imagine anyone asking me to lift my shirt or discuss anything I wear that they can't see ...

I would ignore them or ask the "why are you asking me a question like that?"

That way you might get some insight whether or not you are concealing properly.

You might ask back something to the tune of, "...are those your kids and/or how much did those tattoos cost and/or what's wrong with your teeth..." There are oodles of comebacks, "yes" or "no" doesn't have to be one of 'em. 10-4?

thanks guys. new to chl, but not new to guns. i definately dont have the nanny nanny boo boo attitude. just trying to be proactive. i dont carry a purse, and wouldnt put my cw in one anyway, but as a woman my clothing might not always be conducive to a clean carry. i got a belly band, and hope that when wearing tighter clothing that will do the trick.
BTW, am enjoying this forum immensely.

I am not sure what a "nanny nanny boo boo attitude" is, but welcome to the forum. You will get some great ideas on the forum, and some not so great. You can pick and choose which ones you like.

My favorite saying came from this very forum.... it's my "thoracic perforator"

It's not a lie, and they probably won't ask any more questions.

Uh Oh! I know what meant 80 years, or so, ago. You may get an e-mail from the Sanctimony Police. :rules:

Let me be the first to recommend

http://www.corneredcat.com/Contents/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This site is about women and guns, not about cats. But in a way, it's about the cornered cat in all of us. It's about the determination to get away from an attacker if you need to. It's about making the decision to say, "Not me. Not mine. Not today." And it's about the tools to make that decision stick.
