My pastor wanted to "pray for my wallet" because my oldest daughter just got accepted to A&M (he was mostly joking). It goes without saying that he patted my Glock 30 with one hand and the extra mag with the other...to his credit, he did not blink an eye.

Well, the law says it has to be unseen. Especially at church it's impossible to keep some of the huggers from noticing something but I've never had anyone mention it, not like they were feeling to see what it was. And I carry at small of the back so it's a bit less likely to be found.

Re: First carry and made sorta!!
Lol sounds like the time I was IWB carry at work and someone gave me a huge hug. I never carried IWB again and chose to get a pocket carry instead.
Funny though, if I ever end up seeing a particular female friend (who in the past has jumped and literally wrapped her arms and legs onto me while I'm standing, in a crowded mall) I'd be extremely afraid to be made.
That's a really great icebreaker for sure though. Here's to a great beginning.

That's funny. My family are all huggers and there is a mix of conservatives and anti-gunners. My mom and a couple of aunts (all anti-gun) are big huggers so when I start carrying (my license is in manufacturing now) it will be interesting.
Re: First carry and made sorta!!
I bend at the waist and stick my neck out towards the hugger, I start "go low" & raise my arm/hand so their arm goes over my arm, no way they could get their arm/hand to my waist. They usually end up patting my shoulderblade on a neck hug.
A lady I've hugged weekly for over 5 years at church came to my house while I was doing yardwork and my shirt rode up doing yard work and she asked "you have a gun?" I said "always" and showed her the two I had on for yard work guns. I control who puts their hands on me and where they go It's the Karate Kid movie WAX ON WAX OFF thingy, using your arms to control where theirs go ...... think of it as part of handgun retention practice ...Some females may have thought about such things more than the males if they ever dated an octopus.

That's a memorable first carry.
