Is it worth it, with all these restrictions?

Hey no fair i haven't got my secret decoder ring yet. It must be lost in the mail. The CHL classes are good for the knowledge, yet you have to do your homework. Some are a joke and others are good. Just wanted to throw that out. And I feel your pain about restrictions on carrying. I am a public servant and I am also not allowed to have my gun in my vehicle in the parking lot. Any one and there dog can but not me. I think its a crock, but because of ignorance.

Carry always use sparingly.

I see it like this, the "good Guys" will follow the law and the "Bad Guys" will not.....It been this way forever. I personally am glad to pay my fees, follow the laws and carry my handgun. I havent seen a law in quit sometime that is styled such that it makes sense. You see unfortunately compromises are made to ensure a positive vote / out come. It is up to "us" the public to lobby to get these laws fine tuned. I am glad to be able to protect myself and family and will do my part to voice my opinion and suggestions to my representatives.

When you can carry the weight of a gun on you becomes a comfort you get used to. Hopefully never have to use it other than at the range but the peace of mind that you are prepared to protect your family is priceless.

I noticed that the OP hasn't posted since his one and only post in December 2010 at the top of this thread. I certainly hope this thread is useful to somebody else, because it didn't appear to be that useful to him.

I'll second this. Plastic arrived yesterday and the wife kinda gave me a strange look when I put on my 1911 this morning. After traveling all day today and finding out that the hotel we had booked was in a very bad place ( the 4 police cars in the parking lot busting druggies kinda gave it away), she now finds it very comforting to know I had something on me. ( I won't mention how much better I felt myself, though I think a tank would have been more appropriate )

We also quickly made alternate arrangements elsewhere. Lesson learned, sometimes those 5 star reviews must be planted by the owner because that place didn't rate a single star in our book.

I found it strange also. From what I can see, the OP made his initial post and returned 4 hours later, at which time there had been 10 replies to his original post. He never again posted or returned.

My answer to his question, no matter his purpose in posting one time, remains "yes." It is worth it. Those who care enough to hang around this forum, read, and post, they learn much that is beyond what they learn in CHL class. How do you assign a value to that, a "worth?"

He may have returned and read it without logging in if he had nothing to post.

Personally, it's almost not worth it with all these restrictions, now that Straus killed campus carry again.

Well, I wish he had posted more. Though I don't ride a bike, i would have found his experiences interesting. I learn much from those who do things differently and who have opinions other than my own.

I hope the future will bring you more of the pluses of CHL. No one has yet to dissuade me from the path I began or from the valuable ideas and people I have found on this forum.

Is your life or the lives of your family worth it? Yes there are restrictions but you can choose where you travel or not. The only place I do not carry is work. It's against company policy and I have a great job.
