Suspicious looking CHL holder.....
was me outside the store doors (on my first trip out today with after receiving plastic tonight) looking earnestly for 30.06 signs. I pretended to be on the phone but my squinting at every square inch of door pane and reading every bit of advertising just to make sure was probably not too convincing...........and this was at Gander Mountain.
Any tips or tricks on how to check without breaking stride before someone calls the police on me???

Re: Suspicious looking CHL holder.....
Congratulations on your first non-Wally walk.
A correct 30.06 sign is about 2 by 3 feet. You can't miss it.
Besides, no one has ever been convicted under PC 30.06. It's the most talked-about non-issue on this forum.

Re: Suspicious looking CHL holder.....
If you are properly concealed, no one will know you have a gun.
And just a glance at the door should reveal a 30.06 sign. I haven't seen any in places I had planned on going into in over 2 years of carrying.
And, welcome to the forum.
Edit: Jim was typing faster than me!

I don't know quite how to put this but, "act naturally, don't look guilty and don't keep grabbing yourself". There,I did say it, what a big boy I am.
Congrats on the plastic!

*HIJACK QUESTION***
Where are 51% signs supposed to be posted? Door or inside somewhere?

No location is specified by law or regulation. They are usually inside, often behind the bar.Bonc_CHL wrote:Where are 51% signs supposed to be posted? Door or inside somewhere?

I am like USA1 I don't go looking too closely for the signs. This has been said before and will be said again I am sure but....probably the only person worrying about seeing your gun will be you! I know when I first started carrying I felt that everyone could see the bump, or had x-ray vision and could see the gun. The truth is, nobody is even looking, except for maybe another CHL holder.

I look at almost everyone now trying to catch someone printing or showing, so far no luck!

Re: Suspicious looking CHL holder.....
The only time I really take time making sure there is no 30.06 signs is entering a bank. I'd hate to hear "He has a gun!" or be greeted by LE instead of a teller if my cover garment didn't, well, cover and accidentally displayed my CCW.

Re: Suspicious looking CHL holder.....
Like seamusTX said, a legit 30.06 sign will just about smack you in the face it's so obvious. No real reason to expend a whole lot of energy looking for one.
BTW, I personally have seen only three legit 30.06 signs in the whole Houston metro area.

Re: Suspicious looking CHL holder.....
I've never even seen a legit 30.06 sign.
Closest I ever came, I was taking my wife in for a doctor visit in Plano and as we are approaching the double doors, right in the middle of the glass of both doors are is a sign with about 1.5 inch block white letters...One sign in English, the other in Spanish...I'm thinking, oh great...going to have to go back to the car....As I get closer, I can make out what it says. Paraphrased, it said something like, Pursuant to city code blah, blah, blah...There is no smoking allowed within 15 feet of this entrance.
