Waiting to send in my application

#1

Post by Mustangfreak »

But 1 thing is holding me up. I'm active duty military and I know I can get my CHL for free. I've been told to send in different things so the state can verify. Some said a copy of orders, some said orders and my military ID, some say just the ID, and other said my ID and drivers license.

Which is it? And does it have to be color? Because UPS wont color copy my ID's due to the law.

Thanks guys!

To get the license fee waived, you must be active duty or discharged less than 1 year ago. You need to send in a copy of your DD-214 OR LES, AND your military ID. Does not have to be in color. Does not have to be certified or notarized.

I got mine while I was in the military. I sent them a copy of my LES, a copy of my military ID card (front & back), and a Proof of Service letter. I was in the Air Force and it was on the Virtual MPF (vMPF) website. I'm sure the other branched of the service have theirs as well but I don't know what they are. Anyway, this was probably overkill but I never got a call for any further information.

This past summer I did my renewal and originally sent in a Proof of Service Letter (from vMPF) and copy of my ID card (front and back) and DPS was NOT satsifed with that....They wanted a copy of my LES as well.

Bottom Line: ---- ID Card (front and back) and LES will most definitely be sufficient. Good Luck
