IWB holster "migration"

Guys - just got my CHL today and ran a few errands. I practiced around the house with my MP .45 IWB at about 4 o'clock in a MTAC holster. That seemed to be the most comfortable and concealable spot for me. Out in the real world though, with a lot more walking around the holster moves slowly towards 5 o'clock. Not too big a change, but I'm a slender guy and at that position the grip sticks out enough to print/poke through my shirt with every step. I wear a Galco gun belt pretty tightly around the holster, so I don't think it's a belt problem. It's not in my budget right now to spend a few hundred dollars trying out new holsters.

Has anyone else had this happen? Am I making too big a deal out of the grip "printing"? I can't go running off to adjust the holster every 20-30 minutes.

I have the same problem, sylus - same holster but carry a XD40SC. If the butt prints a bit I've noticed people don't really notice. People are used to other people with cell phones or blackberries on their waist so they typically assume that's what's poking.

See my sig. I carry Beretta 92FS in a MTAC. I don’t have any issues with it moving around on me. I don’t know what clips you went with but that might make a diff. I use the C-clips and they seem to grab the belt a little better. Also if the loops don’t match the belt that also could be an issue. Over all my MTAC does not move at all. I have had the holster for almost a year now.

As for the printing I would not worry too much. The average person isn’t going to notice and the ones that do wont bat an eye. if someone does ask just them its your PDA(Personal Defense Accessory.)

I suggest adjusting the cant of the holster until it rides comfortably without migrating.

Does it actually move, or just feel like it's moved? Reason I ask is because I wear a Kahr CW-9 at 3-o'clock, and it often feels like it's migrated rearward after walking for a while. When I do the self-conscious check, it's right where it should be. Weirdest deal...

Hi, Kythas, I am not familiar with your type of holster, however, I was having trouble with my IWB holster moving, too. The reason for it was that my belt size (1"w) was not as large as the loop straps on the holster. I got another belt, this time the same size as my holsters loops (11/2w) and it made all the difference in the world... no more moving. Wildscar mentioned this in his post, also.

I think we do make to big of a deal out of printing. In the beginning we feel like all eyes are on us...their not. Put in on and ware a good outside shirt (black, dark, checkered, strips, etc.) and forget it. You will be fine.

Upon further review it's a little of both. I checked the belt clips' position this morning and it's right in front of the seam of my shorts. At the end of the day the clip is a little behind the seam, but feels like it's moved much more. I may try Wildscar's suggestion and get the C-clips (I have the standard clips right now). Hey KC5AV, where'd you get the C-clips for your Crossbreed? I have the same holster and went back to their site but I could only find mentions of the normal clips, J-hooks, and V-(velcro)clips.

I actually ordered them from Comp-Tac. I wasn't sure they'd work, but I figured it was a pretty cheap experiment, at $14 +s/h. They work just fine.
