be on the lookout
Gas thieves are very close and will do you in a hurry, keep watch when you can.
Re: be on the lookout
My, how time marches on. In the gas crisis of the 1970s, locking gas caps first appeared on the market, and car makers installed baffles to thwart insertion of a siphon hose.
Thirty+ years later, with the advent of cordless drills and a total lack of remorse on the part of thieves, they only need to punch a hole in your tank and drain you dry. You're out not just the cost of the gasoline, but also the cost of a replacement tank.

I always fill up in the morning. That way if I'm hit, they don't get as much.
And yes, I remember the 70's very well. Since the gas tubes are now bent and siphon hoses can't be inserted as easily, thieves are now simply drilling holes in the tanks and catching the gas in pails.

There have actually been some who use the huge oil pan catcher, because if encountered, it at least looks a little less suspicous underneath a car, instead of a bucket.TDDude wrote:I always fill up in the morning. That way if I'm hit, they don't get as much.

I can remember filling up my VW in the late 70's early 80's for around $3.50. Waiting on gas lines with the engine shut off and pushing it to the pumps. Those were the days.

If you actully remember the 70's then I can only conclude that you didn't really experience themTDDude wrote:I always fill up in the morning. That way if I'm hit, they don't get as much.

Re: be on the lookout
Let the gas thieves have a gallon or two. All over their clothes. Then give them a light.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it's on the internet, thank a geek.

Re: be on the lookout
this reminds me of that stupid scene in ZOOLANDER where they are spraying each other with gas at the pumps then someone decides to light a cigarette
