I was browsing "IDPA" on YouTube and I found this:

Seems like a good way to practice from the house...

Unless you're shooting revolver, I don't see how you can effectively dry fire practice the classifier. Am I missing something?

Is this like Duck Hunt or something? Where do I buy the gun to plug into my computer? Otherwise, I don't understand the video. Of course, I'm not very familiar with IDPA either.

So what do I do now with all the holes on my TV? Tried tape like we do at IDPA, but it does not work as good on my TV.

An unloaded CO2-powered Airsoft gun? I don't know if they cycle if they're unloaded. Or a loaded airsoft gun, a giant white foam sheet, and a projector (that'll teach you to wear safety glasses...)

I got to the first string of Stage 2, but ended up takin' a header into the coffee table tryin' to step over the recliner.

Man, shooting while walking forward is much easier at the range...

Depends on how you define "effective".

Knowing the stage lay-out and rules beforehand, and being able to rehearse the stage beforehand, is extremely advantageous. You don't have to remember, as you already know, and can focus on execution and not process.

Dry fire rehearsal is a very effective way to work the bugs out of some individual skills (draw, mag change etc...) and any tentative plans prior to refinement with live fire.

Practicing for a stage is different from skill drills. I recommend stage practice in an open, outdoor area and perhaps using an airsoft just for the mechanics, and then practicing skill drills when you can indoors. Laserlyte has a new target system that is not cheap, but seems pretty effective for some of the basics (http://www.laserlyte.com/products/lts-target" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) or you could go to a SIRT trainer (http://nextleveltraining.com/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
