TexasCHLforum members done good again

#1

Post by tomc »

Our TexasCHLforum members did very good again at the Texas State IDPA Championship this last weekend.

Our members who finished 3rd or better in their respective division and class were:

In CDP division, "extremist" finished 2nd and "target1911" finished 3rd in Marksman class.

In SSP division, "Gordon C" was division champion and overall match winner, "txaggie" finished 1st in Expert class, and "CompVest" was high female for the match.

In SSR division, "HighVelocity" was division champion and "SRVA" finished 1st in Expert class (Hope your toe is better). "DMG" finished 2nd in Sharpshooter class.

Those named are the ones I know and I apologize if I missed anyone.

Y'all done good!!! :thewave

Impressive! Way to go, team!

I see age_ranger came in 6th in SSP Expert...considering he just got bumped to Expert last year, that's somethin' to cheer about, too. And there are more in there whose real names I know but can't match up to their screen names--including some of our favorite IDPA local-match SOs and our host at Impact Zone  --so our showing was awfully good. I missed seeing solaritx on the results sheet, but this year he was doing something a little more important (congrats to the grad!).

Maybe we need a TXCHL "Wall of Fame"...

Congrats to all of you.....many hours of dedication and expense that most people would not believe to bring home one of those trophies.

Well in the less than spectacular vein, I finished dead last in SSP/SS.

This is my first sanctioned match in SS after having the misfortune of having an uncharacteristically good run on the classifier earlier this year which moved me up the SS. If I had stayed in MM my score would have been in the middle of the pack. My little Glock 30 is not a competition pistol but I must confess that most of the malfunctions were operator error.

All that said, it was a lot of fun and I am glad that I went. It was very well run and the host club, CCIDPA, were very gracious and welcoming. Nice folks all.

I heard there were 193 shooters and about 45,000 rounds fired. Only one DQ and that was for putting a round over the berm. That seems to me to be a great testament to good organization. I hope to go next year and maybe get a little practice time in before the match this time. No place to go but up.

Actually I don't think it did. I had two stovepipes but I think it was due to the Blazer ammo I was using. I noticed a few rounds that seemed to have the bullet seated too deeply and discarded them. I must have missed some. Otherwise IT ran well. I ran less well.

A few years ago I thought it had REALLY malfunctioned when the slide fell off into the dirt on an IDPA stage. The guide rod/recoil spring assemble broke. I had no clue at the time what had gone wrong...very unsettling. As it turned out it was, again, operator error. I had failed to read the instructions carefully enough and I had been seating the guide rod on the incorrect place on the bottom of the barrel upon reassembly. Hasn't had a problem like that since.

It really has been an unusually reliable tool in the six or so years I have been shooting/carrying it. It is my daily carry and my IDPA competition pistol. Great little .45.

:biggrinjester:

Mine have always run 100% until I decide to make them "better"....I then learned a valuable lesson. I know that my tap-rack festival at the last PSC match was amusing to a few (I will not name the SO that giggled in my ear to the point I was laughing while trying to shoot).

The fellow from Lonewolf Distributors told me once that while riding the edge with aftermarket parts...sometimes we fall off.

Strange that Blazer ammo would cause a malfunction.....I have never experienced that.

I have seen them all malfunction.......including the amazing M&P in the hands of a professional. 1911's malfuction? just show up at a match and pay attention for about three minutes! :hurry:
