Re: Prayers for my dads surgery (Update)
again thanks for the continued prayer. Dad will be in at least until Friday.
Doc wants the bleeding in the bladder to stop so he is not losing any more blood.
Good spirits though and has the staff laughing. I loaded him up with flying magazines.
When he gets out and up to speed looks like some flying and range time with him is in order.
I need to get him out to PSC and let him send some led downrange with his 38 4" S&W wheel gun

Re: Prayers for my dads surgery (3/17 Update)
My prayers for your Dad's surgery and being cancer free. I am in my own fight with bladder cancer and I am on the edge between saving my bladder and removal, so I know how you and your Dad and family feel. Just know that the survival rates after bladder removal are quite high. I pray that the surgeons hands have the highest guidance. It won't be long until your Dad has that wheel gun spitting fire at the range.

Re: Prayers for my dads surgery (4/3 Update)
My dads having surgery to morrow to remove 2 masses and a stone from his bladder. He is 91 so even routine surgery is risky.FL450 wrote:4/3/2014- Sad news to report: Yesterday at 145 pm one of the last of the greatest generations on earth went to be with the lord.
He fought a good fight but had an unexpected set back on Sunday. I want to thank each and everyone of my Texas CHL Forum family for the thoughts and prayers.
The good news is very healthy for his age. In fact he still drives and holds a third class flight physical and just the week before last we were flying our plane for a $100 dollar hamburger at Lake Jackson, the weather went south for the trip home so we filed IFR back to Ellington and he flew one of the best ILS approaches I have seen. I kidded him that the Nav radios must be broken because the needles didn't move. He just retired last year from working on airplanes except for ours. Its hard to accept the fact that things can go wrong when he has been so healthy for so long.[/quote]
UPDATE 3/15 -The surgery in Jan for biopsy and partial stone removal revealed Bladder Cancer, Exploratory surgery in Feb revealed to much cancer to save the bladder so tomorrow he will have his bladder removed. This is a 6 to 8 hour surgery with 1-2 weeks in hospital for primary recovery and 1-2 weeks in unit for physical therapy. He is in good spirits in-fact he flew our airplane Saturday. While we were at Ellington field the Collins Foundations was having a "Wings of Freedom" day next to our hangar and while we were looking at the aircraft on display I ask a person to get a picture of him, myself, my nephew and his son. Turns out he was a reporter for channel 11 and ended up doing a interview about my dads recollection of his involvement as a flight engineer and mechanic on the B24 during WW2.

After all this I will get him out to PSC to fire a little led downrange from his '70s vintage S&W .38 6" chromed wheel gun.
Thanks to all my Texas CHL Forum family for all the prayers and support.
