Very long wait time, 90+ days...

#1

Post by northexpedition »

I sent off my CHL-100 on 9/7 and I only just now sent in the final piece of paperwork. I had an out of state arrest, so after a long wait, I finally received the disposition stating that the charges were dropped. I sent that to DPS online. I received a letter stating "This is the final piece of paperwork required, after that we will make a determination."

How long should I expect to wait for my CHL? Are they backlogged right now? Thanks.

Yes... appears there is a backlog. Your clock doesn't start (I believe) until all items are received. When did you receive your letter stating all items were received?

I realize my situation was not the same as yours but it only took one month to renew mine and I had to have my fingerprints redone. I did the renewal on line and got the plastic (LTC) on 12/8/15. The backup did not seem too long.

I received the letter and sent in the final document online last week. I expect to get my CHL soon if everything is good with the arrest record. Several weeks ago I was told over the phone I might receive it as soon as next month. It took them about 90 days to mail me a letter saying I had an arrest record. Luckily I was prepared for that ahead of time and have the document they need. In retrospect I probably should've sent my arrest record a long time ago.
