I sent my application tuesday March 12 I got my first update April 28 saying all my stuff checked out and now they're doing the background check. Anyone else have this similar timeline and might be a little more ahead of me on their application review?

I mailed my info in on 4 March and got the yellow and green page showing they are running the background check on 20 April. Looks like I'm holding 8 days ahead of you. Does anyone know how long the background checks usually take now days? I'm assuming the FBI is as backlogged as the DPS.

Mailed packet March 8th
Background check April 26
Pending Manufacturing April 28
Mailed Chl April 30th
Awaiting plastic....

I did my application online march 13,sent dps packet march 22, fingerprints 26 and still no update i called but they just said due to the high volume of applications wait another 2 weeks im going on 48 days now no update

03/02/2013 Took CHL course
03/03/2013 Online Application Completed
03/11/2013 Fingerprinting & mailed packet to DPS
03/13/2013 Certified mail signed for by DPS
04/26/2013 BG underway finally (FBI must be behind, I have spotless record)

From what I understand, the time in background check varies because it gets sent to the local agencies from your application. It depends on how quickly they handle it. One person posted saying it was only in background check for 2 days, and others say a few months.
