Try this if status is not moving

#1

Post by Topdog77c »

Each time I felt my status was not moving along I sent an email with a question for some sort of update. Here is the link:

https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Each time I sent them an email, my status updated within 24hrs. Good Luck!

Thanks Topdog. I sent my first email this morning (42nd day in BGC). Hopefully it will help.

You will get an Auto reply from here: DONOTREPLY_RSD@dps.texas.gov
Takes from 2-5 days. But my status changed before the reply was sent. The one thing I learned from this that I don't have a great deal of: Patience. Also, send a fresh new email each time. Dont reply to the reply. It goes nowhere. Good luck.

Yes, a couple emails inquiring will stall the entire process.

Do you think they have the same people answering e-mails and phone calls processing your application? I would bet not. That's 2 different roles. Squeaky wheel gets the grease and the plastic.

:iagree:

Everyone should call them as much as possible until they get their plastic. :mrgreen:
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

7 days that's crazy. Both my wife and myself have called a few times once to see what the deal was with her military I'd issue. Forgot to copy the back and then once to see about changing the mailing address. Since active duty we found out we are getting transferred so they will have to mail it to a new place. Maybe it will go faster maybe it won,t who knows.

My instructors mentioned both calling and e-mail. He said do not call. He said e-mail was the best communication. I don't know if the e-mail gets forwarded to the appropriate person handling your application or not. But I would hope they are up on technology enough to be able to have that happen. So try an e-mail.
Good luck. And thanks for your service to our country. Please don't blame me for the Commander -in- Chief. Lol.

Yes, in fact; they are the same people.

DPS Asst. Director RenEarl Bowie spoke with us at the Texas Firearm Instructors Conference April 27. You would be amazed how much the licensing department is accomplishing with so few resources. In an election year with the current incumbent the frontrunner, application volumes are spiking and the department is doing everything possible to keep up with the demand.

Please, people. DPS has 60 days by statute to process your application. It's right there in the Texas Government Code.

Let them do their jobs without frequent, unnecessary interruptions just because you're not happy with the speed at which your online status is changing.

If it takes over 60 days and they have not notified you of an issue, you need to call or email them. The gentleman I spoke with appreciated it, informed me someone dropped the ball and the next day my status changed.

Just a note that Topdog77c did not receive his license in seven days as assumed:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=54446&p=664962#p664962" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Please do not expect your plastic in seven days. Do not expect it in 14 days. Do not expect it in 30 days.

The Great of Texas has, by statute, 60 days to inform you of issue or no-issue.

Relax. Google the term "Zen."

And leave, uninterrupted, the good people at the DPS to do their jobs.
