Happy to be waiting!

Post by EggBanjo »

Hi everybody! I'm new to posting here but have been reading, learning and appreciating this forum for about a month or so now.
As forums go, it's refreshing to see such a courteous and helpful group of people brought together to assist eachother. I'm happy to be here and even happier to consider myself 'waiting' with you :) I mailed my kit today woo hoo..

Welcome to the forum. Hope your wait is a short one.
In the meantime, there's much to take in here.

Yeah, I hear you. My wife is having WAY too much fun randomly saying things like "shouldn't you be checking for you license online or something?" or "You know, it's Sunday and you don't have to check today right?" :boxing

After reading some of the stories about extended waits, I told my wife that this could possibly become my new hobby for the next 60 days. However... I'm feeling pretty good about it. I can't remember a time where I wrote my name and other information on forms in such a slow, meticulous manner so it could be easily read by any potential reviewer. That's my secret weapon, penmanship!
I think the best part is that I have my family's support in doing this, after much discussion and consideration. I can't help but think the documentation was sent in with a a little extra good karma attached :hurry:

If you read this thread, viewtopic.php?f=42&t=46379&start=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , you might should have mailed it in with a Starbucks gift card instead of the Karma. Hehehe, just being silly, mine says mailed so I am a little excited...

A little funny note from when I mailed out my stuff.. I went to Pack 'N Mail, it's almost next to my house so I use them often. I handed over my envelope with the full DPS address on it and asked to send it 2-3 day shipping and requested I get a notification when it's received. He looked at the fairly lengthy address on the envelope and I couldn't help but comment that "yes, quite a bit of typing for you to do there". He entered a few keystrokes and a label printed up. I said "Wow, that was fast", to which his only response was, "Oh, it's in our system, we get lot's of people mailing to this address here". We grinned at eachother and gave a mutual nod and that was that. I see that I am not alone here.

Good! I'm still waiting to see that my stuff has been received lol
The post office tracking says it has, maybe I should have included that Starbucks card like Lady suggested.

Awww, look, someone as patient as me. It's ok Banjo. They have it and it will be updated soon. Shoot, the way they're running now, you could have it in your hand in 3 weeks. Maybe the mailbox fairy will visit me today??? Come on 12:30!

Holy Cow! I checked yesterday and nothing. I even called to see if they received my packet and they said it could be weeks before my info is in the system. All I could think was that me calling just put me on the bottom of the list. :banghead:
This was a little discouraging. However - I checked this morning even though my little voice was telling me it would be a waste of time to check on a Saturday and BINGO!

Between last night and this morning .. .

-App received
-Fingerprints completed
-Affidavits received
-DL valid
-Passport photo holder received
-Photo received
-Proof of Classroom training received
-Proof of proficiency training received
-Fee received
-Background Check completed
-Manufacturing pending

Somebody was really motivated last night at DPS. Yes, I'm a happy camper indeed!!

I think that, although there turn-around time has gotten really short, they are still sticking to the same customer service script when someone calls. That is the reply that I got when I was waiting for mine, and it took two months. However, on the day after I checked to see if they had even gotten it, my status finally updated to "Background review pending". That took another two weeks!

wowser! you might be on track to set a new record if I read this thread correctly. You mailed your documents on 7-17? and you're at manufacturing pending on 7-23? That's just awesome :thumbs2:
