I got my CHL license on 8-20-10. I took my class 7-15-10. I hand walked my papers up the road to the DPS office in Austin (only 10mins from where I work) and I was pleasantly surprised with its arrival on 8-20-10. I intend to carry all the time (except where my job will not allow). I have a Glock .40 Model 22 and I intend to get a pocket carry this week. I will recommend this forum to all the take the CHL class in the future.

Pretty good turnaround. Congratulations.

Once upon a time it was taking up to 3, 4, 5, and even 6 months for some folks to get their licenses.
As you may imagine, after the third month most of us were getting a little flustered.

:???:

I'd like to know the rhyme or reason to how long some applications versus others. Mine is already being sent to the printer, and they've only had all my paperwork about 20 days. Does it really just matter whose desk it falls on?

I don't think they work on a FIFO routine (First In, First Out)... Probably work from the top of the pile... New apps come in at the top and thy just work their way down. Instead of grabbing from the bottom and working their way up... Or at least thats what it looks like to me.

Probably.. I wouldn't know how else to explain the varying processing times for people of similar backgrounds. I have even moved quite a bit in the past 5 years because of being in college for most of that, but my background check didn't take very long at all. Maybe zero tickets ever helped.
