Anyone know if it is updated "real time" or is it done overnight or something? I will only check it once a day if it is done overnight.

I wish I knew. When I was waiting for my CHL, I was checking it all the time.

I don't think it's realtime, but it's not 100% overnight either. My updates all came overnight, but others were getting theirs throughout the day.

my application was received via certified mail on 9/9 and the website still shows my application outstanding

Not sure how they update it. Did the online application mid October, Fast Fingerprints same weekend. Got Photos done. Took class on Nov. 6th, sent everything off on Nov. 8th.
They received everything on Nov. 10th. (Return Receipt - verified). Nothing updated on website as of noon today. I called and spoke to them. They said everything was done and I should receive plastic within 7-10 days from today. Guess I can't complain after reading some of the extensive wait times.
