Mailed off today....now what?

#1

Post by SW40VE »

I mailed my packet off today, Certified w/return receipt after carefully reviewing each document more times than I care to count. Now I don't know what to do. So now, I guess some more target practice is in order...maybe shopping around for a nice sub-compact and maybe trying some of the events at the range I go to. Oh, btw, since I did not apply online, will I receive a pin by mail or what?

I'm in the same boat, except a month ahead of you. For now I'm just reading and learning. I have tried out two holsters and have been carrying at home to get used to it. Hopefully, when I actually carry in public I'll be more comfortable with it.

Congrats SW40VE! Yes, your PIN will arrive in about 30 days via mail. It's a long wait for the PIN, and even longer for the plastic, but you're on the right track in making it pass as quickly as possible. Keep yourself busy and there just might be a day or two in there you DON'T think about it. ;-)

SW40VE, I mailed mine Monday so you & I should be a good guage as to how they are keeping things moving. Mine was a renewal. I don't think the renewals are supposed to take as long as new apps. Tell em though when you get your reciept back. I sent mine the same way.
Lets both practice waiting patiently, & also practice while we wait. :waiting:

I've been shooting CCI Blazer Aluminum through my XD9. It's like $4.96 per box of 50 at Academy. It's a little cleaner than WWB. Also, the WWB boxes of 50 are like $4.63 at Walmart while the boxes of 100 cost more than two of the 50.

Is that 12.88 per 100 on the 9mm? That is still better than .45. Time to start loading your own. I load for 5. Mom, Wife, Son, Son-in-law, Me. .45, .380 for the ladies, .40 for son, & .38/357 for me & son-in-law. No way I could shoot what I do if I did not load them.

Not here...the 50ct are 6.88 or thereabouts. I have bought some at $4.63 but it has been a while since I found any at that price. When I asked about it, the guy behind the counter said there was a price increase and some stores didn't do it when they were supposed to. If you find anymore at 4.63, I would buy everything they had if I were you.

I might have to give that blazer stuff a try. Is it as accurate as the WWB?

I did an informal test. I had my XD9 Service, two magazines, one box of WWB and one box of CCI. I shot 5 targets with WWB and 5 targets with CCI back to back, 10 rounds per magazine. I did not notice anything different between the two at 7 yards. I suppose if I benched the pistol and shot at 25 yards I *might* see a difference. But for what I do, it's all the same.

I've seen that price (~$6.88) on the 124 gr. 50ct, but I'm still seeing the $4.63 price on the 115 gr. 50ct. Also, Blazer is good, and cheap, at Academy. Some say it's a little cleaner than WWB but I really couldn't tell the difference. It is lighter though, not having brass cases. I couldn't tell any difference in accuracy, either.

Hope it is in hand by then too. Any more that is an outing that one needs to be armed. The good neighborhoods are drawing some street thugs in costume & looking for easy victims.

My wait was 78 days. From what I have seen they are getting the plastic out quicker now. hope you get it soon. TICK-TOCK
