it came in the mail last thurs and i carried (hk p30) for the first time this past weekend while shopping @ target w my fiancee. it felt strange at first, like everyone was staring at me or knew i was carrying. i had a thick jacket on so i was just being paranoid. once i got over the nerves, which lasted 5-10 minutes but felt like an hour, it felt great after. i felt a sense of reassurance; i felt protected and safe. to top it all off, i walked around the store as if i were ron jeremy. haha

I wish i knew how to see what is holding mine up. Mine was turned in Oct 19th and has been on processing since like the 23rd. I am seeing lots of other people who turned theres in after I did already have there plastic.

I am just wondering how I can find out what the holdup is on mine? Do I just email that address? If so what do I send so they can find my app info?

Just send your Texas DL number (or Application number) and Pin to CHL@txdps.state.tx.us . Thats all I needed when I started to pester them about mine. Once a dialog was started, I only cooresponded with one person, Rene M., who was very patient and helpful to me.

i took chasjr's advice and e-mailed the state to ask about mine this morning. they answered back to me in about 30 minutes and said mine was at the printers and i should recieve within 2 weeks.

you might want to try that.

I got that response (sent to printers) last week. I emailed them over the weekend, but got no reply til Monday. The response was "your license was mailed to you on 12/7/09". Sometime that night or early the next morning, my status changed online from Processing Application to Application Completed - license issued or certificate active.

I emailed DPS yesterday and asked the status of my application, I got the response of "waiting on background check" I am wondering if that is a generic answer they just tell everyone

There are several reasons I am begning to think this is a ridiculous wait time.

Well I sent the mail last night. Ill see what they say.

If they say pending background check. I wont understand how a backgroud check can take 2 mo. since I have lived in the Austin area since I was about 8. Its not like they have alot of places to check.

I tried emailing today and Rene just sent back my pin to have me check online :(
