November 2009 Applications

Someone suggested that I start a new topic for November, I appear to be the first one.
I mailed my completed packet off to DPS this morning, certified but no return receipt.
I applied online and did my fingerprinting through FAST. Hope this makes the process go faster. I have several hawaian shirts and can't wait to do the Wally Walk!

KoK...welcome! Grab a chair and be patient...it will take time...hopefully not too much time
Lots of information to read/review out on this forum while you wait...and plenty of great folks that answer questions, provide insight, and give opinions...about various topics (not just concealed carry).

Guess I'll post up too. Just registered on the forums (been reading them for some time). Mailed in my app last night - certified and return receipt.
Let's hope all of our waits are short!

DPS must have worked off the backlog. My status changed today to "Processing Application" less than a week after mailing everything off.
Keeping my fingers crossed that things will continue to go smoothly.
Filled out online application. No trouble with the law. Fingerprints submitted electronically through L-1 Identity Solutions.

11/04/2009 - Rec'd at DPS
11/09/2009 - Processing App.
My gosh! You win the coveted "Shortest Time From Received at DPS To Processing Application Award"!!
Of course it doesn't exist, but 5 days....wow! Last summer people were reporting 30-45 days for the same time frame.
Congrats!

At least it proves that DPS is opening its mail. My theory was to get submitted before the holidays, and hope I had the plastic by the end of the year.
I had all my forms filled out before the CHL class. I noticed that the return envelope for my online application had a different PO Box and zip code in Austin than the packet that the CHL instructor was using. Maybe the online ones go through a quicker process.
Others have said that they didn't think the online application saved any time. Maybe not, but it might save data entry mistakes.

I applied on line, and found an address error in the data pack they sent me. I made the corrections right there, and had piece of mind that at least all info on the application form itself was 100% correct.
