DPS giving information about app

Hey guys,
I just called and finally got somebody at DPS this afternoon. All I ever get from them is your application is processing, just the same on the website.
I see plenty of people that have called about their application and they get details on where their application is i.e. waiting on background, waiting to print, etc... Does anybody know why that is?
Also, I am from Bryan, anybody have idea if people from Brazos County are going quicker or longer than other applicants?

I'm in College Station and sitting at 60 days here. Still "processing application". I'll let you know when that changes to maybe give you an idea of when you can expect action on yours. Did you take the class at Champion Firearms?

nope, Im actually finishing up at Baylor right now and did my course at Chandlers Gun Range near China Springs. Champions is nice though, lacking in the service department but you can not beat the prices.
I just see all these people saying they got an update about specific events their application is going through and I have never received any of that.
Have you heard anything personally about people being from BCS and their time windows>

Do you want them to spend their time giving status reports or processing applications?

Not personally, but I'll keep you updated on my own progress.

Im not in BCS anymore, but when I called today to check on my status (im up to about 110 days now) first all they said it was still processing. But i kept asking questions and she finally told me that it is at the background check stage now.
So i think the trick maybe to ask more questions and hopefully they will tell you more. Good luck, i hope yours wont take as long as me.

I don't think its the same person processing them as answering the phones, but i might be wrong.

well, considering there is a group of workers that are dedicated strictly to answering phones giving updates and answering questions, I would imagine that it could not be the same people that are in the back actually processing applications OR maybe it could be the same, they finish an application then run to the computer bank and manually input each one they finish, kinda like an incentive system for the number they complete. I don't know but it keeps me up at night

Well I appreciate the information, even though it may not be the answer your always looking for.
I was just tying to get an idea about waiting time for BCS. As long as its not as bad as Harris etc. I can live with it I guess. My only thing is that i am 21 so there should not be that much of a background to check. The only thing would be a DOC for fighting but was completely dismissed because of self defense in my house and attached proper documentation.
thanks for the opinions though everybody

YIkes. And I was getting antsy at 60. Does that include any errors that had to be fixed, or has it been "processing application" the whole time?

Well online it was "processing application" the whole time.
The biggest problem was that my dad (same first and last name) picked up the letter notifying me of a problem and kept it for almost a month before he opened it and realized it was mine. When I called to address the problem, I found out that it had already been resolved by my instructor (everyone in the class had the same problem I assume). But, according to the person I spoke with today my 60 days started over as of the day they received my TR100 back.
Who knows when I will actually get it. It seems they will use any excuse to give them more time. I will be emailing my rep, Rick Perry, and anyone else I can think of in the morning.

My GF submitted in February and has not even gotten her pin yet.
Sent them an email asking for the pin and was told hers was waiting to be processed.

I called yesterday (just out of curiosity, since I'm not as far into it as some of you are) and asked the lady specifically about backgroung checks. She said,"They are working on that right now." I asked who "they" were, and she said the people that process the applications. So I assume (which is dangerous) that their are 2 separate groups of folks. The processors and the phone/email answerers. Just a guess? Here's to waiting
