Try Calling....

Post by ccabb0tt07 »

Your state senator. I called my state senator's office last week, and complained about my wait (~4 months). They were very sympathetic and helped me very quickly. A lady from their office kept in contact with me through the process, and told me that she was getting the DPS to get my license on the fast track. Today, I received a call from the DPS, and a lady there told me that she was handling my application. I called her back and she said that she completed my wife's application today, and mine should be done this afternoon or first thing tomorrow. She verified my address and said she would mail them soon. She left her number so I can call if nothing happens. For those of you that have been waiting a long long time....you might as well give it a shot. :txflag:

Ccabbot what county do you live in? I did the same as you last week, got nice ladies who told me it was being "expedited". But no answer as to when it might be issued. DPS approved me, Harris county is still dragging its .. feet. And DPS wont move ahead until HC does their job. 4 months waiting now.... for a 60 day limit. Do citizens get the same lame excuses when we are late with a tax bill? "Oh you see , there was this storm".. puhleze

I live in Denton County, but I lived in Harris for 18 years and they were doing some background stuff done there I believe.

Its pretty funny how it takes them 3 days to cash your check, but 4-6 months to issue the license.

Disclaimer: I have not received my license, so I'm not 100 percent sure that it works yet. But at least something is happening.

Indeed. With all the lawyers in this state I can't believe someone hasn't taken them to task. Why can't they do all the background checks in Austin? This is aught 9 after all.

One of my biggest issues is that there is no order....meaning people that apply after you, get the license before you. If there was order, I would not have called.

I also don't see how my background check could take that long to do. I never even received a speeding ticket....knocks on wood.
