Almost Got Out

#1

Post by LittleGun »

When I saw a letter from Texas DPS in my mailbox, I thought I my wait was over. I was heading for the exit to the Waiting Room. I opened the letter was disappointed to see that my application is delayed because of hurricane Ike. No estimate of completion given. I have to keep my Waiting Room seat for a while.

i still don't understand this new excuse they have. How are they delayed when the storm never touched them?

I can see it delaying people who live in the afected counties, but it should not be affection anyone else.

don't worry folks...it'll happen! I hated my wait but in the end, it was worth it. 99 days for me.

And heck, I don't even look at it anymore. "rlol"

How long have you been waiting?
Sent mine in June 28th, got the same letter but walking to the front door from mailbox I could tell there was no "plastic" inside. What a let down!! I'm right at 90 days and thinking IKE is just an excuse. I'm new to this forum and not sure what the current wait time is, most people I know that carry got theirs in 45 days or less. :confused5

It's an excuse. My wife got her letter today and she's been waiting since mid-April. I had about 4 times as many counties listed as she did, and I got my plastic the beginning of August (sent the packets at the same time, money orders cashed the same day). They just sat on her application forever, and now that the hurricane hit, they can say it's the county's fault.

Me too... got that letter today, I hate to assume the worst, but this sure looks like a lame excuse. The only addresses I've ever had in TX have been in Dallas and Tarrant County, I did work for a company in Harris county, but never lived there or had a permanent address. You can see my timeline in my signature...it's probably time I contact the governor and my rep, or am I just - :banghead:

I've been waiting since mid July. I've got my IWB holster softened up and ready. I visit the range at least once a week to practice. I take tactical classes to improve my skills. Whenever my application is approved, I will be mentally and physically ready to carry.

I hadn't imagine it would take so long since I have a perfectly clean record - no court cases, no legal judgments, no trouble with the law, no speeding tickets, no parking tickets, no delinquent accounts, no alimony, no questionable associates, no mysteries whatsoever, consistent employment and residency. My application should be easy.
