Renewals taking longer than new CHL's?

Sent my renewal packet in on 8/2/08. DPS says they received it on 8/4/08. Still no plastic. They tell me, and have told me for the last 4 or 5 weeks, that I'm still undergoing a background check. This is for a RENEWAL. Any other renewal experiences? By the way, I'm Dallas County.

Mine took 35 days, from early May to some time in June. Don't recall the exact dates, it is in another post here some place.

My renewal went in 8/5. It had an address change included and went from Tarrant Co. to Denton Co.
I got it back a couple of days ago.
(It was the old style card vs the "New" one supposedly on the way.)

I dropped my 2nd renewal off in person at DPS HQ on 07/25. No address change, nothing funky.
My original CHL took 56 days.
My first renewal took 34 days.
Still waiting now on 09/30 . . . 67 days and counting.
"Processing Application."
