Quick question?

#1

Post by SA-XD40 »

I recently got laid off from my job of 11 years. Do I have to call dps and let them know that I no longer work there? Thanks in advance.

No. You have to notify them only of name and residence address changes, or some special cases for certain professions like judge and federal agent.

The reason that they ask for your employment history is to perform the background checks in the county or counties where you worked.

Good luck finding a job.

Sorry to hear about your layoff, and I hope that you find work soon. I am sure that one of the many instructors on the board will be along to answer this soon.

My guess would be no. If they had a need for further employment verification, which is unlikely, they would find out that your situation is recent after contacting you.

May I ask your profession? Someone around here might be able to help.

And welcome!

Thanks guys, that's a relief to know I've been waiting since may 5th and I don't want my plastic to be delayed any longer.

I used to design roof and floor trusses for single and multi family homes. I've been looking around, I got a job offer in burleson tx. but I don't know if I'm ready to pack up the family and leave san antone.

I assumed that you already had your plastic, not that you had your application in process.

I stand by my answer. If you put "19-whatever to present" on your application, it was factually correct and provides the information that DPS needs.

Have you checked some of the GC's in the area? Spaw Glass or Galaxy Builders may be options. If you want to stay out of the field, Project Management may be the best route. I'm pretty sure the local home builders are tightening the belts further, but commercial growth is expansive in and around the NW side of town. I've got some friends and family in the business, so feel free to PM me if you are interested and I'll see what I can find out for you!
