Tick-tock I'm watching the clock!

Hey All,
First off, this is a great forum! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. This is the best forum
by far! I have found so much information here and am eager to participate and get to know you good folks.
Here is my tale of woe:
December 7, 2007 Applied on-line
December 18, 2007 Recieved packet in the mail
January 12, 2008 Took CCH class and passed!!!
February 4, 2008 Mailed packet
Through February 22, 2008 "Packet mailed to applicant"
February 22, 2008 "Processing Application"
Waiting, waiting and waiting. My concerns:
1. Am I being paranoid, or could the Texas DPS be tracking how many times I am checking the CHL site?
2. Is it possible that I will not be granted a license because I moved from California (yes, the 6 months has passed)?
3. My husband took the class a couple of weeks after I did and submitted his application a bit later than I did (Hmm - 2 applications from one household
)
OR
4. Too much time on my hands?
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant. I'm watching the clock, counting the days, and will post when I hear something.

Welcome, neighbor!
I'm about as "deep northeast" as you can get in Texas, so I assume you can't be too far away.

No need to be paranoid. Your not in Cali anymore! If everything is right, you should be getting plastic soon. Welcome to Texas, and Welcome to the Forum.

I certainly hope not, or else I should be worried too! Though with the difference between mentalities of "shall-issue" and "may-issue" states, it's probably more likely that a may-issue state like CA would use the fact that someone moved from a state like TX in deciding to not-issue, than a shall-issue state like TX would (or even
could) use the fact that someone moved from a state like CA in trying to avoid issuing. More likely, the Texans would say, "Welcome, refugee from the People's Republic, be at peace in our land, for it remains a free place still."

Hi All,
First, thanks to you who have commented on my post. It's sure nice to know that I'm not in this alone. I broke down and phoned Austin on March 10th. The technician I spoke with said that everything was looking good thus far. He also stated that it could take 60 days from February 22nd (same day as I noticed a change in status on the web page).
Hanging in there

Morning Everyone,
Yes, I'm sure looking forward to going to the Gun Show in Longview Saturday
. Could it be that I'm addicted? If so, no better addiction is out there.

Well, here I am at 48 days (from Feb. 22nd - "Processing Application") and no word. Yes, I check the website every day, but with all this extra time to spare, I printed up calendars in Calendar Creator and now look at how many days have gone by.
We happened to go to Bass Pro Shop in Shreveport, LA today and were looking at the handguns. The guy behind the counter asked me if I happened to have a Ruger SR9? "Gee, can he read my mind?" I thought. Then he dropped the bomb shell - there is a recall on the SR9's and mine just happens to be one of them. Can I say upset?
Thank goodness that this isn't my only gun. If so, I'd be some kind of mad!!!
To those of you who have your plastic - my congratulations! When you do your Wally Walk, please think of me.

Yeah cindy, its an addiction alright. The only way to treat for me is to take some over the counter .230gr FMJs to the local range for some self counseling. It seems to get the monkey off my back for a week or so, then I need another fix!
Hopefully noone will try to give me an intervention any time soon.

I cannot believe it! On 25 April, my status changed from "Processing Application" to
"APPLICATION COMPLETED - LICENSE ISSUED OR CERTIFICATE ACTIVE"!!!
Now I didn't want to say anything, because plastic was not yet in hand
BUT
as of 29 April - Plastic is in hand!
Thanks to everyone here. Can't wait to post more!

Congrats! So that's 9 weeks from "Processing" to "Issued", which if you only count work-days is 45. You're the second or third person who's received their license recently that I've noticed has completed in less than 60 work-days, which is encouraging. Obviously there are going to be exceptions, especially for those whose prints are rejected, etc. but at least it seems like there might actually be a bit of consistency happening. I'm not saying I'd rather see this than within 60 calendar days of packet receipt or check cashing, but at least it's something.
If it holds, this Friday I'll be 5 weeks in, which is one week shy of halfway to 60 work-days. If I'm lucky I'll get it by this time next month.
