Getting impatient and looking for information

My wife, son and I all took the CHL class together in early August and sent all three completed applications in on Aug 18th. Wife and son got their CHL about a 10 days ago... mine is still 'processing application'. Send the DPS CHL people an email via the CHL site link asking two questions: Is something wrong, incomplete? And if so what? The admin assistant that replied that they had received my application (duh), it was being processed according to the system and said she would send the 'conformation' (her spelling, not mine) again. Well isn't that special??!! She did not acknowledge that I had even asked the questions, evidently did not pay attentiono to the fact that all three applications went in together so there is an issue of some sort. Anyone here have any suggestions or ideas?
An interesting thing that makes me think my application should have processed more easily, I have had three NCIS background checks done in the 20+ continuous years I have been a Federal employee, and another by a private group when I took the PTA Treasurer's job many years back. Never been in trouble with the law at all, so I am guessing there should not be any of the 'usual' snags.
Thanks for listening to me rant a bit, but I am a bit frustrated at this point.

I think you would be well served by making a phone call to that number. Be polite though (sounds like you were the first time).

I think you would be better served with the phone call. It is much more difficult to ignore someone you are actually talking to instead of just an email.

Evidently, DPS does not get today off as a Veteran's Dayobservance. Just got the response to my second email:
"There is not a problem with your application we are waiting for the license to come in from the manufacture so we could issue it out."
Hopefully, they will contact the manufacturer and and ask them where it is, though they did not say that.
At least the fire under my pot has not gone out and not been noticed...
KALROG... thanks for your suggestions.

Thank you Kalrog. I really can see the benefit of this particular part of the forum.
Finally!

105 days later...
Today, almost a month after my wife and son received their CHL, mine came in the mail. After 2 emails, and one phone call, somebody finally woke up and figured out that maybe there could be a problem with mine. Oh well, I am legal, and I guess that is all that really counts. That and the fact that at no time in the 105 days did I feel like I was in a bad spot where packing could have made a difference.

Congratulations and sorry about the wait. But just curious, did they ever send you a letter notifying you as to why your application was delayed?
This section of the handbook seems to say that they must let you know why your application has taken longer than a total of 90 days.
(b) The department shall, not later than the 60th day after the date
of the receipt by the director's designee of the completed application
materials:
(3) notify the applicant in writing that the department is unable to
make a determination regarding the issuance or denial of a license to
the applicant within the 60-day period prescribed by this subsection
and include in that notification an explanation of the reason for the
inability and an estimation of the amount of time the department will
need to make the determination.
