Dropped my new CHL app off today at Bldg I on Guadalupe. The gentleman at the counter checked my paperwork, said everything looked good and gave me a receipt for the fee. He said I'd get a code in the mail to check status and to call them if I haven't heard anything in 60 days. The wait begins ...

Hello, I’m only 4days old. I took my class with Tom Estep in Texas City (great guy) on 8/7/09 and sent in my paperwork certified; return receipt on 8/14/09. Wish me luck. This is the first time I have joined a forum, any helpful advice? I did read the rules. It looks like there is a lot of good information in here. Does anyone know if you have to have your CHL to attend the all day clinic at PSC on Oct 24th? My better half and I both took the class with Tom and we both are looking forward to the annual event.

HI seadog and welcome to the forum! Glad to have you with us.

There's a major thread toward the bottom of the index page about PSC Day. You might want to check there.

You do not. The only real prerequisite, as far as I can tell, is enjoying guns, shooting and gun people.

We've done both rides quite a few times! In fact, I think we have Talimena scheduled for Oct. We live in McKinney and have found a few windy roads north of the metroplex that we like to ride.

Some of my favorite twisties are in this area! We are going to be riding the "three sisters" again next month.

I’d like to thank you all for the warm welcome. I just received my return receipt. As of 8/17/09 it is in the hands of the state. I guess the waiting begins. I will try not to be to inpatient. I haven’t had one up till now, what’s another 6 months. I do hope it’s not that long.

For your sake as well as mine(see my progress in the signature line), I hope the wait is not to long for you either!
