Well, well. No one has ever done that before.......much I almost didn't get my first status because I had locked myself out the night before.

It usually takes about 14 days for the first status to show up. Then it is pretty much a coin toss as to how fast the other steps go. Some people are through in two weeks. The rest of us had to wait longer. As the applicants from last year are very willing to point out, however, the average wait time then was 100 days. Now, very few get to that wait time.

Aw, c'mon Excaliber - that is just throwing gasoline on the fire.

I have to admit that I was guilty of checking my status way too often. I figured that I was squeaky clean enough that my turnaround would happen in 31 days....NOT! Those extra 20 days (to get me to the actual 51 day result) seemed to go on forever. I promise you that signing on twice a day to see my background check still pending didn't make it go faster. If I hadn't been on the site and seen other people (LOTS of other people) go to mailed or received status, I wouldn't have been as disappointed. In this matter, ignorance is truly bliss.

Oh surrreee.. try being one of those that waited 100 days for your plastic...

try 178 days!

Seriously I thought the law was 60 days.

More than that is cruel and unusual punishment.

OMG...

Yes! 178 and there where no issues or problems with any of my docs or application. Every time I called DPS said there was a "heavy load" at the time and were waiting on my BG check. I called, wrote and emailed all my state representatives and local county commissioner and only got one response. I voted for that one, but not the others last week in early voting. I applied for a Pennsylvania license with a six month lag incase my renewal took as long as the origibal app. I got the PA in about a week and a half.
