Mailed in the documents 6/18 via Express mail... USPS shows them as delivered today. I was told by my instructor that it takes about 6 weeks to get the piece of plastic in the mail, so that means end of July.
Our instructor told us that it would take 4 - 6 weeks.....Did my application online May 21, mailed cert. & photos in on May 22. My status changed to "Application Received....Background Check Under Review" on June 5........I'm still under "Review" and waiting.

At this point it has been 20 working days since I dropped it in the mail....... 4 calendar weeks......Hope to see a status change by the end of the week.....I'm worse than a kid at Christmas time waiting for this!

Zip code!
That is correct! 77346 is my ZIP code... I live in Atascocita, some 20+ miles of downtown Houston (Northeast Harris County).

Checked again today and now says "Manufacturing Pending." Here's my journey so far:

4/26 - applied online
5/5 - fingerprints
6/16 - class
6/18 - mailed docs
6/19 - DPS received docs
6/29 - background check
7/6 - manufacturing pending

I only check once a week, on Fridays, so not sure how long the BG check really took...

I found out today that I was approved for my CHL. I waited for awhile - 67 days. I talked to a representative there name Darrell. He was able to push my application to manufacturing. The people there are all professionals. Everyone's time won't be the same. It depends what they have to look at in the apps packet. I had charges that was out of the state of Texas. These were a long time ago, but were dismissed and one record was destroyed/purged. My packet may have gone quick if I had send the dispos in along with the packet, but I faxed it over today. I went with the advise from my instructor to not send anything unless they ask for it. The same day I sent my packet, I sent for my dispositions from out of state, but if I known to send them in with the packet, I would have waited for the dispos to come in then mail the packet. I can't say much about the web page status, because it still says the same. I know my packet was mailed out 20120430 and it got on the site about 2 week later. I was told that my CHL should be in the mail sometime next week. I appreciate the Customer Service Rep. Darrell for walking my dispos, and getting the ball rolling for my CHL approval. Excellent customer service.

My son-in-law and I took our CHL class yesterday. His is an initial application, mine was for my first renewal. I dropped my renewal paperwork off at the post office last (Sunday) evening with no special postage. The SIL was going to send his with the mail guy on his first run to the post office this morning.

Hopefully both will be back soon! I will update as I see changes and when the plastic is in hand.
