59 days.....so frustrated

#1

Post by LagunaBum »

DPS has had my application and required documents for 59 days. I've been in background check for 34 days with no criminal history. I've emailed and called without a response. I'm beginning to wonder.
Application mailed 2/5/13
DPS Received 2/7/13
Background check under review 2/28/13
Background Check complete 4/4/13
Manufacturing 4/5/13
Mailed 4/08/13
Plastic in hand 4/13/13

I would say you should contact your Rep (if he/she is pro-gun) soon if you really have not received any response from DPS. It would seem to me after reading all the comments that you are at the 60 day statutory limit tomorrow.

Try to relax and do something else besides check the website every ten minutes like I did about a year ago. :) They're probably seeing an influx of applications right now. You could call and ask someone just to ease your mind. They'll probably just say they're swamped, but it helped me when I thought for sure mine was hung up. Once it gets past BG check it goes pretty quick!

Sorry, but I had to chime in here...many are under the impression the magical "60 days" is from when they do their on-line app, mail their docs, DPS signs for mail, etc... It starts when they have "recieved ALL completed materials" and this is not specifically when they post that they have on the web site. They may still need fingerprints, copies of court papers, etc... Usually (but not always) it starts when they start background check. I know a lot of people are frustrated, but they have NEVER had this many apps at one time to have to process. I was surprised to get mine in 56 days from mailbox to mailbox. The only thing that got under my skin was some were getting theirs before me that applied after I did. Just know they are doing the best they can and when you get yours it will be like Christmas, your birthday and the 4th of July all rolled in one! :txflag:

Did you wait more than 59 days after turning 21 to submit your application? :biggrinjester:
