Waiting for my Wally Ride...

#1

Post by SSAllen63 »

Took my class on May 29th. Mailed off my stuff on May 31. Before my class, I had heard that it took a couple months to get the CHL back. My instructor said it was running about 3 weeks now. It's been 3 weeks and 3 days. Seems to be stuck in background check. Of course I check back a couple times a day the see if the pot is boiling  The day of my class I stopped and bought a Glock 26 on my way home. I figured I could conceal it easier than my full size Taurus 9mm. I've gone to the range to practice, (I'm more accurate with it than my big 9mm) I bought an IWB holster from Kolster. Wore it around the house several times. It's very comfortable. Bought some extra mags and lots of practice ammo. Been reading everything I can get my hands on. Getting prepared.
I say Wally Ride because I ride my motorcycle a lot. It's an 1100 V-Star cruiser. One of the reasons I wanted my CHL is because I love to travel on it. I rode to Sturgis from Dallas up through the Rockie Mountains last August. Rode to Florida and back twice in the past year. Stopped to visit my daughter and son-in-law at Ft Benning, Georgia along the way. I had to stop about every 2 hours for gas. Some places I stopped at were a little shady. Didn't really feel at ease with just my fists for protection. I've installed a gun safe in one of my saddlebags for when I'm traveling and cant bring my gun inside somewhere because of local state laws.
So now I'm just semi-patiently waiting. I'll prob ride my bike to Walmart or Target when I get my CHL for my Wally Ride :coolgleamA: . I've really enjoyed reading through the Texas CHL forum. Learned a lot from it.

Welcome to the forum
My big Taurus I qualify with, a bit big to conceal, so I carry a Glock 26 too ;-)

This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

I've never understood why they make those seats so small. They should bolt a Lay-z-boy to those electric carts considering the typical proportions of the users! :biggrinjester:
