Finally, mailed off this morning... of course hoping for the shorter of the processing times I have seen tossed around

I assume you are talking about your CHL? if you did the paper work on line and then took the class it will come in about 30 days. mine took 28 days but I did the on line paperwork. while you are waiting for you lic read chapter 2 in the hand gun book and then read it again. don't be afraid to ask questions it might save to a world of hurt down the road

Yes, I did the online application, and mailed the chl 100 etc. off today. Fingerprints yesterday... so will review the reading...

Thinking the online status thing is a mixed blessing... I know it takes two weeks for anything to show up...

Sit back and enjoy the great company here on the forums. Remember the DPS Status website is only updated one a day at around 6:45a. Try to refrain from checking it several times a day. No, I do not take my own advise.

yeah... I know not to... but I do anyway :). Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had taken my chl class a good while ago and just now had the funds available to finish the process, so it seems longer

Congrats! I sent mine off 2 weeks after yours, so maybe I have 2 more weeks? From browsing the forum there seems to be no rhyme of reason to the amount of time it takes.
