Clock Is Ticking...

#1

Post by EricB »

Just finished up my CHL class an hour and a half ago! Shot a 247 (dadgummit :???: ) on my qualification, and somehow missed one on the exam.
So, unfortunately have to wait until Monday to get the goodies in the mail to DPS.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for the tremendous help I got just from reading all the great advice over the past few weeks.
Will keep y'all updated as this process rolls...

01/07 - Online app and payment submitted to DPS
01/13 - L1 fingerprinting submitted
01/21 - CHL class completed

Welcome to the Forum folks! Try to continue to put your energy toward reading and learning more while you wait...it makes for a pretty good distraction and it is truly amazing how much you can learn here in a short period of time. And try not to sprain a trigger finger while checking your status multiple times a day during your wait...

And Eric, when are you retaking your test, that's terrible! Just kidding...great job!

Now is the time to get your holster situation figured out, new clothes purchased, and practice carrying around your house. Congrats!

Yep, this should be fun for a few weeks, sorting all the tack and latigo out.
I presently have a Taurus PT-809, thinking about something along the lines of the Tucker IWB holster - any thoughts?
I'm kind of a small guy, 5'8"/160, and no longer a "flat-belly"...

Welcome to the forum.

I've got both a IWB Kholster and at Crossbreed ST, which are basically the same holster, and I would highly recommend them for a IWB option. OTOH, you could always make your own and save a few $$$ for more ammo. :thumbs2:

Taurus PT640 Pro
Bersa 380
Stevens 20ga.

The Tucker, and the Crossbreed SuperTuck look like long lost twins. If the Tucker is anywhere near as comfortable as my Crossbreeds are, then go for it. If the Tuckers are selling for anything more than $80 bucks (like they do at my local gun range), then run long and fast until you get to the Crossbreed site. Although Mark tends to get a little crotchety, from time to time, on the XDTalk forum site, I still have to give the holsters an A+++ rating.

(and for the most part, Mark is a super guy. It is just that he has a hundred people a day asking why it takes so long to get a holster, why he does not build a bigger factory, why he does not hire more people, and so on. In reality, he has gone into double shifts, hired as many talented craftsmen as he can find, and I think they may even have expanded their work site.)
