7 Weeks And DPS Says Not In The System Yet

#1

Post by CHL_Dreamer »

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum, but I have been reading posts for a couple of months now.

My timeline is below and now it's just very frustrating that on Monday it will be 7 weeks and as of today that I called DPS for a PIN number and they still give me the same answer "Your application has not yet been entered into the system", this is the same response that I get via e-mail.

At first they started to tell me that it takes 5 weeks for an application to be entered into their system, so I asked the person that I spoke on the phone today, what happened to the 5 weeks deal? To what she says she didn't know, that because of all of the holidays they could be running a little behind.

Now I have a couple of questions, would it have been faster if I had applied online first and then do the class and complete the application process? Or at the end is the same thing as going all conventional (mailing a complete application packet). The second question that I have is that been so long now and they still haven't entered my application into their system, would this delay my process? Or would I still be able to make the 60 day process time that most of you have been enjoying?

Anybody else applied right around the same time I did? If so, what has happened so far with you? Any information is appreciated since I'm a bit frustrated...

Welcome aboard Dreamer. Some of the instructors will be the authority on your questions. There have been others that have experienced your frustration. Not all plastic comes in by the 60 days. My first was in the 75 day area best I remember. Last renewal was right at 60.
Invest you time in choosing a carry rig. Practice home carry. Go to the range. Catch up on you reading here & get acquainted w/ every one.
When you get a good contact point stay persistant and polite. The rest of us are aching a little for you too because WE REMEMBER. ;-)

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Relax. Take a deep breath.

Read your Texas Concealed Handgun Laws book.

Your package was received by DPS 23 November and it's only been 42 days. It could take up to 90 days (the 60-day prophets are, by statute, incorrect when they say everything must happen within 60 days. Read the manual.)

Dude. Chill.

Trust me. Try to forget about the calendar.

Time will pass and you will become another righteous person carrying a firearm, helping tilt the scales between the just and the unjust.

Still Frustrated...

Thank you for your warm welcome! I feel right at home!

I have done all of that already and that's why I guess I'm more impatient. Unfortunately I haven't talked to anybody at DPS that is willing to go the extra mile and do some " true research", I know that they have some good people working there, but I just haven't connected with them yet, so far they just give me a "canned answer", even the e-mail replies are automatic, you guys can see, I provide the mailing information right there at the beginning of my e-mail and they ask me for it on their response. All of their responses have been the same exact ones, letter for letter, big dissapointment. Here is a copy attached.
Your application has not been entered into the system. It is likely
going though the processes required before entry. When a completed
application is entered you will be sent a confirmation letter with your
PIN number. When was your application mailed?

Subject: PIN NUMBER

Hi,

I mailed my application to Austin on November 20th, 2006 and I was trying to check/track the status of my application online but I don't have a PIN number yet. Could you please provide me with one? I would highly appreciate it. My information is below:

I thank you in advance for your help and prompt response.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks,

First of all welcome aboard.

I completely feel your pain. I myself have been waiting for awhile. I did apply and pay online. Got my pin with my application etc... timeline below. As you, I was calling around the 30-40 day area and told my application was not in the system yet and there site still showed packet mailed to applicant. Emailing was even worse. I to have yet to speak to anyone willing to do more that just provide canned responses. My app finally showed up as processing in early in Dec. well past the avaerage 30 days, and still to this day is still says processing application since it switched around 40-45 days. This Monday was my sixty day mark. So I called once each day. Each time I spoke with someone and they gave a slight variation to the same answer. Your application is processing and background checks are being done, etc... and will likely be finished in 3-5 weeks. One even told me a Tech was beeing assinged to my case and I would be contacted via mail to provide more information. Calling back the same day and got a completely different answer from another tech.

So, hang in there cause even when you get your pin it does not update at all beyond proccessing application and emailing them will only get you short canned responses. I do not even think they read most of them. Calling is a little better, but for me not that productive. In all cases I have been very nice and cordial with them in every way to see if I can get a good detailed status on my app. No luck yet. Now I'm at 65 days and counting......

I applied on line and the wife didn't. We took the CHL class together and mailed our packets in the same envelope. She actually got her license in 57 days. Mine took the full 60 days.

It will happen. Try to relax.

Finally somebody that went the "extra mile"

Here is the update...

Finally I was able to speak to somebody at DPS that was willing to go the "extra mile", I told this guy that my application has been mailed over 7 weeks and it still doesn't show on their system, so after he checked and still no show, he told me that he was going to do some "research and investigation" work on the where abouts of my application, sure enough, it was buried 6 feet under on somebodys desk and he managed to get it out of the "forgotten" pile and he input it on the system himself, I now have a PIN number, which by the way it doesn't work , but at least I have some peace of mind for now. Hopefully it won't be much longer before I have plastic on hand

Just wanted to let all of you know that the status is still the same, no changes for now, but I'm checking every 15 minutes... Just kidding, but this wait is killing me though...

I hope that everyone that was waiting on plastic has received it by now. They did tell me at DPS that because of the year end holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's) they lost about 12 working days, go figure...

Happy carrying!!

My arms and jaw just dropped, I just hope that mine doesn't take that long, I don't think that I'll be able to take the pain and suffering...
