March 2010 Applications

Re: March 2010 Applications
Went to the mailbox today, lo and behold there was a letter from the DPS in there. I start getting excited, rip it open, and.......
My Pin #, which I had gotten via e-mail 3 weeks earlier. Nice psych-out DPS.

That's hilarious! You need to update your timeline with the date of your PIN receipt.

Re: March 2010 Applications
Well, Monday DPS said (via Email per my inquiry) that they were processing my application.
Today, FINALLY, it shows "Processing application" on the website.
It is weird though, as Monday the DPS reply said "the website status is up to date" even though she said they were completing the background checks, UNLESS the background checks are not considered part of processing, which would be weird I think....
Either way, I feel a bit better as the status finally changed, when they have (per their signature on the return receipt) had the packet since March 26.
One step closer!

Re: March 2010 Applications
I was talking to a guy yesterday who has had his CHL for years. His app took 5 months. The wife and I were at an event last night with a Texas Guard member at the table. He got his CHL less than a year ago and his app took 2 months.
I guess I should count myself lucky that things seem to be quicker now, but the waiting is driving me NUTS.
I did just get a new Fobus paddle holster for my Kahr MK9 Elite and it is awesome. Wearing it around the house is really comfortable, secure, and easily hidden. I also like the fact that I can take the holster on/off or reposition it without having to un-buckle my belt, or unsnap anything. The price was right also.

Re: March 2010 Applications
I'm only on day 12 and my status shows as "Packet mailed to applicant". I'm going to email them on Sunday night to request an update... hopefully I'll get a better answer than, "Your application hasn't been entered into the system yet."
The waiting sucks, but it won't be really bad until my CrossBreed SuperTuck is delivered... then it will be nearly unbearable!

Re: March 2010 Applications
I have USPS confirmation mine was picked up on March 26th.HighHandicap wrote:I'm only on day 12 and my status shows as "Packet mailed to applicant"
My status showed Packet mailed ...... until Thursday April 8, then it showed "processing application"
On April 5, I emailed DPS, they said they were "completing the background checks" so to me, they were already "processing application".
So as you are 3 days behind me on them receiving application, Monday or Tuesday, yours should change (all things being equal) to Processing Application.
It is driving me nuts too, and many others, so you are not alone
lets just hope we are all as lucky as a few others who have posted recently, that they have received the plastic (or just the confirmation of approval) in 21 days or so.

Re: March 2010 Applications
I mailed mine on March 10th, and it was received by DPS on the 12th. Chadhender and I were really close to the same timeline. At this point I am checking my status/mailbox all the time.

Re: March 2010 Applications
I'll second that. Given the timelines of others, mine SHOULD be getting approved "any day now". In the meantime, I'm ordering accessories! Kholster, 5.11 carry belt, extra magazines for IDPA, tac light...SecedeTX wrote:This is worse than waiting for Santa!!!!
Edit: you guys gave me the idea to email DPS a status request, checking that the fingerprints and photos were ok... it came back pretty fast as follows: "The application is near completion. Thank you for your continued patience. The photos were accepted." tick tock tick tock...
