Re: "Waiting Room"
Rumor has it in the Capitol City that 50 new people hired to process the back log and....non-commissioned people are now doing background checks. Used to be just commissioned people, so an officer had to be assigned to do it. Just what I heard, can't verify. Hope its true.

Re: "Waiting Room"
So, for those of you who are curious about whether bugging DPS and your state reps helps, I have a little anecdotal evidence. We ran a little experiment in my house since I was very anxious for my license and my wife was interested but not quite as obsessed. As soon as I hit day 60, I was all over it. I called DPS every 10 days or so, I emailed and called my state rep and state senator on many occasions. I bugged the crap out of them. I received my "Active" notification on Day 143 (Harris County).
We made no contacts on my wife's whatsoever. She had no issues with the paperwork just as I didn't as she only had checks in Harris County just as I did.
The only difference was that I was an early February application and she was early March. She received her "active" notice on Day 179.
So, while perhaps it should be taken with a barrel of salt, in our situation, bugging them allowed me to get it a month faster than she got hers.

Re: "Waiting Room"
From what it sounds like with a lot of us getting applications completed in big groups now (every day for the past few days now) It does lead me to believe that they have gotten some more people hired and trained and they are doing a big sweep to get the work caught up where it should be.
I dont read around on the other months tooo much, but March (my month) just had like 8 people get theirs completed in the past 3 days. From what I've seen while glancing through other months, its the same thing.
Anyone else think like me? I think they may finally be getting their acts in order!

Re: "Waiting Room"
It really looks like they are cranking them out now!!!
It'll be my luck the crank handle will break when mine gets to the top of the stack...
Seriously, though, it does appear that they have made or are making a concerted effort to get things straightened out. We should commend them for the effort. It's not the processors fault, they are doing the best they can IMHO. Should I have a need to call them, and I hope I don't, I will make sure I tell them how much their work is appreciated.
