Dropped off the packet today at DPS in Austin. I know I'm in for a long wait, but glad to at least be in line... Hopefully it won't be too long.

Welcome abaord & the wait will seem shorter if you visit here, go to the range some, purchase your gear, wear it at home to get accustomed to carry.

Glad to have you.

Welcome aboard! I second what LT says. I dropped my packet off on June 2nd and am using my wait time to learn all I can here and just last week I ordered a Beltman belt and in another week or so am going to order a holster. Gotta do something with the 4 month wait. :tiphat:

That's pretty fast! I wonder if all those temps and process changes we've been hearing rumors about are kicking in.
I will add, as a fifth circumstance in the situation of the House of Representatives, restraining them from oppressive measures, that they can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as on the great mass of the society. - J Madison, Federalist #57

I resent that remark...
.. I consider myself thoroughly average :thumbs2:

Seriously though.. 20 days? wow! They're picking up speed there!

Hopefully you'll be one of the first ones to get issued under the 'new, speedier DPS' "rlol" :cheers2:

I'm timing my turn in so I'll only have to wait 35 days, start to finish. :smilelol5:

Yeah right. And if you believe that, I have a bridge over the Trinity I'd like to sell you. "rlol"

in a perfect world , you should be able to walk in with your packet ,at any DPS substation,
they punch a few keys ,
and presto , you're approved .
"here is your temporary license until your permanent one arrives in the mail in 2 weeks max."
"have a nice day"

if a man could walk on the moon 40 years ago,
should'nt you be able to get a license in 40 minutes ?

Just now saw it. "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

Just over 2 months from drop off date. Sounds like they're getting better! Now can't wait till I get the plastic! :)

FWIW, I am a Williamson County resident.
