The website still says "Processing Application" so I guess it's a little out of date.

Great News Finally. My CHL application has been approved. Called DPS and talked to a very courteous customer service rep and she stated my CHL was in printing and should be mailed in 2 weeks. That makes it 88 days by my count. Looking like some of the April apps are starting to finalize. :thewave

04.18.2009 : CHL Course Completed (Ft. Worth)
04.20.2009 : Paperwork Mailed
04.24.2009 : Paperwork Received
xx.xx.2009: Sent a cashiers check not sure when cashed.
06.03.2009 : PIN received - "Processing Application".
07.02.2009 : Called DPS to check on status
XX.XX.XXXX : Application Approved
XX.XX.XXXX : In Hand

I called DPS today to check on the status since it had been over 60 days since it had been received by DPS. I was told that the wait is long and it is taking "around" 60 days from when the application is entered into the system, which is when the PIN is created.

So I guess I am looking at August and at least 90 days.

I'm a Texas resident, but really haven't lived in the state for 11 years. My home of record is in Hays County. I'm currently stationed in Kansas. Over the last 5 years, I've been in Iraq, Georgia and Oklahoma. App mailed 4 APR, recieved by DPS 7 APR, and got my PIN 18 May. Currently "Processing Application". It amazes me that I have a Top Secret Clearance, a Class III tax stamp for a suppressor, more finger prints on file than I'd like and have to wait this long for my CHL....
Ah but you are forgetting Trooper Donut has more important things to do than make sure he follows the law. Remeber he doesn't have to follow the law, he IS the law. "rlol"

Frankly I suspect that Houston (Harris County) has told the DPS officers to deliberately delay on these background checks ever since the TX legislator slapped them down for trying to tell CHL's where they could and couldn't carry. JMHO

Great news everyone, checked that internet today and my application has been completed and issued.

"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

It is great to see that I am so close now, just waiting for the plastic. It took a total of 65 days from the date they got the app to issuing. Looks like things may be speeding up. It is hard to believe that they got it done from all the post that I have seen form everyone else. I renewed my DL the other day and they told me 6 weeks to print lets see which one shows up first. :clapping: :anamatedbanana :txflag:

My guess is the CHL will show up first. If it says online that your application has been approved, that means as far as the state goes when they run your ID, you hold a CHL. I'm 99.9% sure that means your license is printed and you are only waiting for up to a week for it to arrive in the mail. I wouldn't be surprised if you had it in a few days
